It is that time of year

My doorbell just rang it was this cute girl in our neighborhood selling the (dreaded) Girl Scout cookies.  She had them in her hands.  I haven't ordered them in a couple of years but this is new.  You used to pre-order them and then in March they would come.  I guess they changed their policy to satisfy the immediate gratification of buying and eating same day.

Girl Scout cookies and I go way back.  I have risked my life for a box of those cookies.  I kept the boxes (yes, multiple) of GS cookies in the trunk of my car.  I was on my way home from work.  I pulled over on the side of the freeway, opened my trunk and pulled out a box and ate them.

I didn't buy GS cookies today.  I didn't even want to.  That's a big NSV for me so I wanted to share it.

A victory indeed!

GS Cookies are...deadly. A box can go down just like that. And even post op, if they made me feel terrible, they would be worth it in a horrible sort of way.

So I"m not buying any either. (And I love GSUSA!)

You are soooo right!  A box of those cookies can go down so fast and I'd still want more!  I love the GSUSA and how they support and empower girls.

My middle daughter is a Brownie, so I can't really escape buying them. But if I limit myself to one cookie every 2-3 days when I meet my fitness goal, I think I will manage. I only got 4 boxes, and only one was a kind I like. The others are for hubby, daughter, and son (he can only have the shortbread due to allergies)  everything in moderation *sigh* I know if I fully deny myself it will end up in an ugly binge and dumping session

Of course you had to support your daughter.  I have sons so the GS cookies aren't an issue.

I think it is great that you can use moderation with one cookie every couple of days.  I can do moderation but with GS cookies, I'm doubtful.  Maybe someday........

It's really tough! I'm used to eating half a sleeve of Thin Mints with no problem. I actually hate that sugar doesn't make me dump until I really go nuts. But I told myself that if I hit my exercise goal for three days, and stay under my calorie cap, I earned a serving, which is two Thin Mints, I believe. If I nibble them, it lasts. Today I was craving chocolate at work, so I got a protein bar and had half. Got in 15g of protein, 3g carbs, and 95 calories, much better than giving in to a Hershey bar!

Congratulations Cathy for the great NSV!

My granddaughter is selling the dreaded cookies so I will buy some but I plan to take them to work immediately. I know I can't "have just one" and having them in the house is just too tempting.

Good plan to take to work.  Your co-workers will love them.

I'm with you, I can't have just one.

Thanks!!

What a great NSV! I haven't had one of those cookies in the longest time, luckily for me there aren't too many little kids in my bldg & I work crazy hours so I'm not around if they try to sell me any! LOL

For me moderation with sweets is still key, whenever I went with an all or nothing approach, I'd eventually give in & go overboard but if I can have a little bit, I'm good. The other times that I try not to eat sweets is to put my cookies, the ones I know I can go to town on, leave it in the box, & put my old coffee maker machine on top of it. It makes me really think if I really want those cookies today, or wait another day. So far, so good, they've been here for months. I might have to toss them! LOL

Great strategy of putting your coffee maker on top of them to make you pause if you want today or another day.  It is working since they've been there for months.  Thanks for the idea.
