Around 130.  My serum protein has consistently been low normal since surgery, and I find I feel better and do better on a higher protein diet.  Besides, I like meat!

I guess I usually shoot for 100g per day.  The shake I have in the morning usually has about 50g and the rest I spread throughout the day through Quest bars, meats, and plant proteins.  I don't think all the grams we figure actually absorb if we have RNY because of the by-passed parts.  So...I don't know exactly how much we are getting in the end.

Thanks for making me check.  LOL.  I looked at my fitness pal and saw that one day it was 42, and the next it was 74.  I think my surgeon's goal for me is 65.  (7 years out)

Congratulations on 7 years!  I need to revisit my guidelines too...maybe 100 is too much?  But I am interested to know...how much do we actually absorb out of what we take in?

I checked with my nutritionist & she said to aim for 80, even though she said some have gone as high as a hundred. The only way I get that close is to have at least 1 or 2 shakes & the rest in dense protein spread thru out the day.

In regards to your later post on how much you absorb I really don't know. I had the vsg so I don't malabsorb, but for people who do, they generally take in much more protein to make up for what they're not absorbing. Check with your nutritionist for the numbers.

Was long as I get at least 130 grams a day I feel awesome but when I miss the mark of 80 grams it is like I am an extra on the Walking Dead...
