Was struggling with food cravings and other issues but I regret posting now because mostly people have been rude and not helpful. Would delete if I could figure out how.

NONE of those things were on my surgeons post-op eating plan at two weeks.  I was still on liquids at that point.

Are these things/volumes on your surgeon's post-op plan?  Every surgeon is different, but I've never seen pork rinds and breads at two weeks out.  Even if the bread is only eaten one slice at a time.

Anywho - there is a forum here on OH specifically for folks who've had the RnY (gastric bypass).  Here is the link:

RnY Forum

You'll likely get a wider variety of feedback over there so you may want to go ahead and crosspost your question.  Best of luck to you on your journey.

Two things.........

1.  You should be following your surgeon's plan - surgeons give you a plan stating what you should be eating, and when you should be eating it.  Generally, liquids, then pureed foods, etc.  They will set forth how often you should be eating and how much you should be eating.

2.  Use the search feature (magnifying glass and right, at top of page) and look for posts about "head hunger" -- sometimes we "think" we're hungry, but it's not real hunger, and some people have to add an antacid to their day because of hunger symptoms.  Read up on those issues.

If you want to be successful in the long run, you'll follow your surgeon's plan.

You are still healing, so you may not know your body's stop signal yet. It is very important to weigh and measure your food. Also, ditch the pork rinds and bread this early out. At some point in the distant future you can try them again but it is way too early for them now.

The immediate post op period is a time to (if you haven't already) relearn good eating habits: protein first, then veggies, then complex carbs if you have any room, and you likely won't.  This is a lifetime eating plan, not something to race through to get to goal, only to return to preop eating.

If you were not given an eating plan, please contact your surgeon's office for guidance. Some people leave the hospital on soft food; others are on liquids for a couple of weeks.

Your hunger is likely head hunger and some physical hunger. I find it helpful even now to eat on a schedule. Food cravings are something you will have to work on. Surgery doesn't cure them; it just changes the volume of what you can eat.

good luck

Please please please follow your doctors plan.  What you are eating is not good for you.

Like others stated your body is still healing and you are NOT experiancing true HUNGER.  Your mind is messing with you big time.

You need to contact your surgeon and get on his/her plan and stick to it.

I'm going to sound mean, but this is more a boot in the ass.  If you continue to eat the way you are then the surgery was moot and you will fail.

You should be measuring your food, protein should be the first type of food that you ea****er drink plenty of water, vitamins, and exercise.  At only two weeks out I am shocked you are eating 900-1000 calories a day.  That number should be more around 500 calories a day in the beginning.

You are FOOL!  Do you know that bread expands and you are asking for a leak.

If you are asking if this behavior is ok you won't get it here and I am not a head patter telling people. Aww you will be ok. Did you have a counciling and a nutrition class prior. Even if you didn't you know what you are doing is wrong.

Get a grip only you control what you put in your mouth!

I don't need responses like yours. If you can't be helpful or at least civil, keep it to yourself, or go tell it somewhere else.

Wow...I came here for some help, advice, and support. I appreciate those of you who tried to do that. The rest of you are unbelievable. There's no reason to be snotty or condescending. Did I ask if this was okay? Um, NO. I realize there's a problem, which was why I was asking for help. Not only that, I've talked to MANY people who've had RNY over the years and they all have different instructions and some DID have some of the foods I"m eating approved. Leaving this up long enough for it to be read, and then I'm deleting. Thanks for the help, not.

Instead of getting all pissed it would be wise to listen to the vets.  What does YOUR plan say?  I would not listen to what other people say they were able to eat at 2 weeks.  Why you ask?  Because there are people that will lie about what they eat and what they were approved to eat.

Oh and posting and then deleting just makes you look like a child that did not get their way.

My surgeon had a very liberal food plan (she found fewer problems with eating when people started soft foods right away), and I was eating soft foods on Day Three and baked, moist chicken 7 days out, but there was NO bread or pork rinds anywhere on my plan!
