Breakng ribs during sex, anyone else?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but my vitamin D was high and the Dr. just cut my dose in half.  Just repeated my labs  and my Vit. D is within normal limits.  I saw the results but don't remember the exact number.

Do you not understand that we are trying to tell you that you need to know more than just that your Vit D and calcium levels are within the "normal" range, AND that your physician may have not tested everything (s)he should have?

Many good physicians know very little about vitamins and nutrition. Many have no clue that your serum calcium level, for example, tells you nothing except that if you aren't getting enough calcium from food and supplements, your body is successfully pulling the calcium it needs out of your bones.  Many have no idea how Vit D, calcium, and PTH levels are all required to get a full picture of what is going on. Your doctor may or may not, but I am concerned that you are so quick to say that your labs are all fine and appear to be very dismissive of people trying to tell you that if you were otherwise healthy, you would NOT be breaking a rib just by bending over. As Val pointed out, you now have far LESS pressure on your ribs than you did before you lost weight, so what you are saying just makes no sense unless there is something causing your bones to be so brittle.

Or do you just want people to accept this story and lie to you and tell you that surely your insurance company will agree that the problem is some excess skin and approve the plastic surgery you want?

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

OMG, I have been 2 years post op (RNY) Lost 200# and have broken my ribs  during sex FIVE times.  (I know what you're thinking and no it's not wild, and my hubby's only 170 lbs.) I believe it's caused by the pushing of my abdominal apron into my ribs. We have ruled out Osteoporosis.  The X-rays are not showing the fractures, and I have received nothing for pain.  I finally talked the Dr. into a  bone scan which revealed the current and past fractures. (HOORAY!) Is this enough proof to get help from insurance to have the extra skin removed? Is this a problem shared by anyone else?  Oh & if ur tempted to give positional advise, I have also had a recent knee replacement. ;) Thanks.

I cannot imagine how skin -- which, even when there is a lot of it, does not weigh much -- would actually break bones, and I would expect the insurance company to raise more than just an eyebrow at this claim.  (And then stamp it "denied".)

If you say that it cannot be from the weight of your husband because he only weighs 170 pounds, why do you believe that it is caused by what is likely only 20 pounds or less of skin?!?

Many insurance companies no longer even consider back pain when determining eligibility for a panniculectomy because they recognize that the amount of weight from excess skin is minimal (unless you started out at 400+ pounds and are looking at having a lot of fat AND skin removed for mobility reasons in order to finish losing the weight).

although you might have ruled out osteoporosis, I would see a specialist to determine if you have any number of other conditions (including vitamin deficiencies) that are making your bones brittle.

YES.. this happened to me as well. My husband is a bit heavier and I think that is why. It was about 8 months after my surgery. ( about 6 months ago now). But yesterday i leaned over the arm of the chair and it feels like I fractured my rib again. Very painful when breathing or leaning over now. I am surprised to find so many references to ribs on this forum. I also had a partial knee replacement but that is doing ok.

I've never heard of situations like this before. I hope you managed to solve this problem and get the insurance payment. Because the treatment costs a lot of money and time.
I usually have sex quite often. However, I constantly have sex carefully and carefully. I recently bought myself a nice anal toy and I really liked having fun in this way! It's much safer and even more interesting! Ha ha, I showed my other half and we both liked this entertainment. I think that sex toys are cool, because they make your sex life more diverse.
I'll tell you again that I hope you're all right now. This is such a strange and rare injury in my opinion
