From 425 to 145 I did it!

On November 2, 2011 I was well enough to have gastric bypass surgery. I had finally lost enough of my fatty liver to be approved. I started out at 425 and because my mom was at the Moffitt Cancer Center, I had no choice but to walk from my car to her room each day or at least a few times a week. When you have to do something, you do it. This is coming from a woman who would sit in the grocery store parking lot for an hour to debate whether or not it was worth the walk to go in and shop.

Before my walks to her room, there was no place where I could weigh myself. The feed store was recommended and although I was offended it was my only choice. Each time I visited her I'd weigh my self and I found myself losing a few ounces here or there and then a pound now and again. My doctor told me my fatter liver might interfere with me having the surgery and I wanted that surgery more than anything in the world.

I finally got down to 388 and contacted my doctor....  I'm 145 now! It finally happened this past Sept/Oct and the one word Id use to describe how I feel is, "FREE."

There's so much I want to tell those who are in the process of being approved and those pondering whether or not to have the surgery. Just do it and it'll all fall into place. Read as much about it as possible. Talk to your doctor about everything; medications, etc.

Advice for those who just had the surgery and for those about to: Protein 1st, small bites, (very small), then water. Please don't over do it and move as soon as you can. Take small walks around the kitchen. Don't over do it, but please move. JUST MOVE..... That's my philosophy.

Very sincerely,

Marcy Palmeri
