people having more respect

People assume I am some sort of pushover and they can use and manipulate me. I have no problem saying no and have gotten rude when they persist.  Do you have any tips how my husband and I can not come across this way? I have 60 more pounds to use and I am sick of people asking us for favors, especially money(and they are not in crisis).

Wow. Just keep saying no and hopefully they will stop.If they get angry and no longer want to be your friend you would be better off without them in your lives.

I'm definitely not pc either and would have no problem telling them to kiss my ass (which is why people do not try to take advantage of me)

What's the saying "..neither a lender or borrower be..?  I see it on regular basis.  Lot of folks don't understand that once you loan money to another person and they don't pay you back sorry but that is CIVIL law not CRIMINAL!  If I loan anybody a dime, which is rare, you sign paper with me and it is notarized.  Needless to say I don't have many folks coming my direction with their hands out.

if you let yourself be a doormat, people are gonna walk on you. Just say no and say it again and again and again until they stop asking. Don't get in a big conversation, just say no and walk away.
