I am 4.5 years out and I have reactive hypoglycemia, kidney stones and recurrent intussusception. However, I am extremely happy with the results of my RNY. If I eat what I should, I can control my sugar. The kidney stones have subsided and even though I may have to deal with recurrent episodes the rest of my life, it is not a daily thing. The issue with intussusception is also under control by hitting my daily fluid mark and eating greek yogurt daily, which I love. I am not perfect, I crave carbs and I love breads and pretzels, all the things I am supposed to avoid. I have gained back 20 pounds and am working on taking it off, but I am not beating myself up over it. My surgery was successful and I thank my surgeon for the great job she did and my nutritionist for changing the way I feel about food and what I put into my body. After reading the posts on this site, I feel a lot better about the issues I go through with eating and regain. It is truly a lifelong challenge!
