Heart pounds after I eat sometimes
Hi there,
I am almost 5 years out now. I have done pretty good. I am up a little but not much. I will address that starting the New Year. Back to basics etc etc.
I do know I have reactive hypogycemia and if I eat properly I am fine. If I get low blood sugars I can ALWAYS look back at what I ate throughout the day, be honest with myself and know what I ate that got me into trouble. Thankfully it doesn't happen too often anymore.
What I do have is heart pounding shortly after a meal. ****asionally) not always. I cannot put my finger on anything I have done differently to make it happen. Today it happened about 5 minutes after eating a breakfast that consisted of one egg and a piece of low fat cheese. That's a good healthy breakfast and I could see if I was eating "crap" but I see nothing wrong with that meal to make me react that way.
Is this something to be concerned about and how many others get this?
Some people identify that as food that may cause food allergy down the road.
http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/guide/what-causes-heart-p alpitations
" Some people experience palpitations after eating heavy meals that are ri*****arbohydrates, sugar, or fat. Sometimes, eating foods with high levels of monosodium glutamate (MSG), nitrates, or sodium can bring them on.
If you have heart palpitations after eating certain foods, the problem could be food sensitivity. Keeping a food diary can help you identify which foods to avoid."

Hi, Nora!!
This happens to me every once in a while. Maybe once every couple months, but I associate mine with crappy eating. Have you talked to your PCP? Maybe a stress test is in order, just to be sure all is well??

I know exactly when it happens to me. WHEN I EAT SOMETHING THAT HAS A HIGH SUGAR CONTENT AND SOMETIMES LOW. After two years, my taste for food is still changing. I posted the other day that now, I can't take the same vitamins anymore(after 2 years) because they make me gag now. I don't like tuna and that's what kept me going.

I have it even when i eat protien. My suggestion is to go get yourself checked out. I tend to be right on the edge of dehydrated, even though i drink 80-90 oz of water, plus sf popsicles and soup.....when i am behind on my water, it happens more than not. Also the doctors did find an abnormal heart beat. I don't have to take anything but I am glad i know about it so they can watch it.
