Revision to DS the only answer for Me
Almost 4 years since I started this journey and I was a tremendous success... until I wasn't!
Did I fail? NO! Did the Sleeve fail? NO! My metabolism was just so exhausted after 3 years of 800-1100c and all the changes I put it through, it simply could not tolerate over 1100 calories and No bread rice, etc. I never was able to reintroduce healthy carbs or go above 1100 calories with regain. My GP, who followed me monthly, told me that surgery was the only answer to saving my resistant metabolism
Now I am scheduled for re-sleeve and the DS. Malabsorption is the dirty little secret that doesn't get much good press, although it is the most effective surgery long term. For some of us, after "the tool" ceases it's work, our surgeries (including bypass) become a very low calorie diet, to which you can only adhere for so long... Age and/ or injury in exercising, and/ or emotional trauma, and WHAM! you're suddenly fat again. Oddly, my body feels SO much more comfortable with the 40 lb regain, and if I thought it would stop there it would be OK. It won't stop, so I can't either!
Can others relate? rds

I to have gained some weight back, suddenly this last year. I am 4 years out. I know my problem though. I started drinking diet soda again and boom, weight gain. I finally got off the damn stuff again and now hoping that I can lose the extra weight put back on by working extra hard and not letting myself fall back into bad habits I had relearned. I really dont want another surgery, but if I cant get it off any other way, I too may be going back in.
