Smileygirl, don't pay any attention to mean people.  I'm sorry to hear you've had some regain.  Go back and start over.  Track your food and keep your protein intake up.  You can win this fight.  Best of luck to you girl!

BTW, before surgery I could gain 30 lbs. and not know.  I would lie to myself and wear stretchy clothes, etc.  Yep, I would soar up several sizes before I knew what had happened.

You are not a failure.  I had RNY in 2004.  Now I have been approved for a Revision.  I started gaining weight really fast last year to the tune of 50 lbs.  I thought it was just menopause but it turned out to be an underactive Thyroid condition that contributed greatly to my weight gain.  It may not be your fault that you are regaining some weight.  Check with your doctor and make sure that everything is working OK on the inside.  With women our hormones can wreak havoc on everything in our body including our weight.

Hang in there you are not alone!!

We support you 100%

Right!!! This is a support group! *gives the mean person a dirty look*
Anyways, I'm right there with you! I got down to 159 for literally 5 minutes but for years I was 165 no matter what I ate/did. The weight suddenly started creeping up and one day I was 183! I'm like noooooo no no no... I have to stop this! I downloaded MapMyFitness (iPhone app) and just started with walking everyday whenever I could. Pretty soon I even started jogging! Then I started logging my foods in the app too. I still have no idea what really works for my body (the best way to lose weight) because it's been a struggle...
I have lost 18 lbs though and I'm so surprised it actually happened! There was a long time where I was building muscle from jogging so my weight wouldn't budge! I didn't give up though.
Anyway, I could go on forever but I just want to say that regain happens with almost everyone eventually! The good news is that you still have your "tool" so use it to your advantage! I'm still trying to figure it all out. We'll get there!

I'm not the OP, but I love your success story. The simplicity makes me feel like it's SO possible. It's hard to shake the "OMG I won't ever lose the regain!" feeling. Because losing pre-op really was very hard. It's not easy now, but it's not the same either. And it's not as much! I can exercise at my current 190lbs, definitely. I could not exercise at almost 400lbs. And I could easily eat meals for 3 or 4. Obviously, I can't do that now.

Aww!! Thanks for commenting!! Everyone can lose weight, they just have to figure out what works best for them through trial and error.

10% regain is normal, Dont  beat yourself up ... just  go back to basics and  jump start the loss again .  I know its hard but I know you can do it .. I am going to do 2 weeks  back to basic program ,,, did it before  and dropped almost 20 lbs .

your not a failure  till you accept failure itself.

My nurse practictioner recommended a book called 'The 5 Day Pouch Test' by Kaye Bailey.  I haven't gained weight, but I never got down to where I want to be either.  It's been 3 years for me too.

This book is great.. it takes you through steps to reconnect with your tool.  First 2 days are back to liquid, then soft protein and so on.  Remember the no drinking before or after rule, and she talks about slider foods, which I have found myself eating.

I have lost 6 lbs and am on day 3... although the goal isn't weight loss, but reconnecting with your tool... you probably will lose weight.  I like how the author is kind... don't beat yourself up... the majority of people who have surgery will struggle.

Check it out.  It is available on Kindle.

Good luck!

1. Ignore rude people sometimes people say the wrong thing or misunderstandings happen. 2. Its easy to regain and its sometimes a good reminder to eat clean again up e exercise just a bit by changing routine, our bodies learn our regular routines and stop loosing,,, 3. There is a huge backlash of 1995-2005 people regaining for several reasons. Some do over eat and fall back into old patterns, others have health issues and exercising is not possible and even more unfair our small intestines start to be more efficient and absorp more. I was uneducated about somethings, like did you know that you Should not drink and eat. At first we cant eat and drink at meals but then a few yrs out we can. My doctor told me soda, even diet makes our pouch stretch. Lastly, you have a chance now to really document whats happening, eating exercise be honest and bring with you to next appointment. In 6 months if you lost 5 pds a month you will be right back where you want to be,,, Good luck
