long term weight loss
Hi all, its been so long since I posted that I can;t even find my old profile. Anyway, its been 13 years, I initially lost 135 lbs so I went from 280 to 145, I kept that off a long time, but now I am 56 years old, and the weight is creeping on I am now 175, it kills me to say that number.
I don't quite know what to do, should I see my surgeon after all this time? Is there anything he can do? Are there foods on this site that may help me? any one going through this, or have a ny suggestions I would love to hear from you. Thanks
Are you tracking your intake? Have you become lax on eating too many carbs? Drinking with your meals or before 30 minutes after?
I'd start by re-evaluating what you are doing and see how it goes. Menopause may also contribute to some regain but I bet if you refocus you can lose some of the regain.
You may want to check with your surgeon to be sure everything is still properly functioning.

Hi, thanks for your message, it's been so long that yes I am lax, I eat only carbs and actual candy now, I use to be able to not fit much in my tummy, now I just eat whatever, and I only dump from eating too much, not sugar. I want to get back on track, but I don't even know where to start. Do I go on Atkins? how much protein am I suppose to have in a day? I guess I can get an appt with my surgeon, but I doubt anything is wrong, I just am eating wrong.
Atkins is very much like we should be eating. Use the induction portion to decarb.
I shot for 80+ grams of orotein a day some days I do and others I don't quite get there.
I do believe eating the dense protein first is key to not getting hungry often.

Hi Cajun girl, Today I started with your approach, I am going to do 80 grams of protein, and only 20 or so carbs, I need to get back to basics, of course its 11AM and I am starving, and I have already eaten breakfast and lunch, oh well, the hunger will go away, I think I am just bored. Have a good day, sandi
Hi Sandi
Congrats for the weight loss and I can appreciate that you are concerned with the weight gain.
If you look up at the blue bar, click on community and then click on groups. There is a "Back on Track" section that has been very helpful to many people who have posted. Offers some simple good guidelines as well as emotional support.
Good luck and you can do this!
Directly above the messages on my computer is a blue bar. If you can find that, click on Community then click on groups and tada... should say "Back on Track." At least mine does. If you cannot get to it you might go to the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of the page and type in Back on Track.
Good luck.
