low blood sugar and B12 diffancy
Misty, It may be also your BP. I used to and I get lightheaded when I stand up from sitting or laying down, That is called "orthostatic hypotension".
After waiting for 9 months to see the best endo doc in town - I was diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency. My body doe snot make enough cortisol, and low level of that may manifest itself with hypoglycemia, low blood pressure, ortostatic hypotension, stomach problem (nausea) food allergies, and so on... Losing weight is one of the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency.
I know that after RNY I developed some food sensitivity - A close to a year ago I was so desperate that I eliminated gluten from my diet. That helped some with control of my BS.. I don't think I have gluten intolerance - like celiac - but I was never tested.
I don't have runs, but I do have constipation, and gas pains, and abdominal cramps... So I eliminated foods that are not recommended for people who have IBS-C (IBS with constipation). If I follow the diet very closely - I do feel better and my belly is doing much better... (FODMAP _ google it)
I know that after I have my endo situation under control - I am planning to see an allergy specialist - for food allergies . That is is next for me. I know I am sensitive to a lot of foods.. I take Benadryl at night and I need to take allergy pill during the day - if I don't I am losing my voice by the end of the day... I suspect whey... but who knows?
Currently I am on a replacement dosage of hydrocortisone.... (to supplement what my body does not make) That is life saving .. I can work, I can exercise, I can sleep and I can function... It is very fine line between getting enough and not too much..
Now - I can wait 1-2 hrs if I need to ... my BS stays stable (as long as I take enough of my hormones) .
I am not saying that this is what you deal with ... but adrenal insufficiency - specially the secondary or a beginning of adrenal shut down - are very difficult to diagnose... and many endo do not how to treat that and what to do with that..
My endo - she told me that I am once of a very few patients that have that.. and that we are going to deal with that and learn from it.
BTW: if your body makes too much insulin as a response to food - then fat free protein shakes (like isopure RTD) may make you crash - there was study that show that our bodies releases insulin as a response to whey (more for isolate or whey hydrolyzed) I know that if I add fat (coconut milk) to my proteins I am fine - but making my shakes water based - with no fat - makes me crash every time...)...

This may sound crazy, but I have found that I have far more problems with dumping and blood sugar when I severely restrict the amount of sugar/carbs I eat. My body seems to become far more sensitive to the sugars I do eat. I now always make sure that I have some carbs/sugars so my body "remembers" how to handle them. That being said, you still need to be careful in what you eat.
Could it be a soy allergy? I have a household full of people who have severe food allergies (Latex in all fruits/veggies, Chocolate, Mustard, legumes, shell fish, dairy and the latest SOY). The soy allergy manifests its self in my son as severe nausea, stomach cramping, and explosive watery bm's - 20 to 45 minutes after he's eaten something with hidden soy in it.
I know your problems can come from lots of things and most likely it's a side effect from the RNY, but it may be that your condition is made worse from a new food intolerance. Worth having your IGE blood levels checked next time someone orders a blood test.
Just another thought. Hope you get to the bottom of things soon.
