What kind of iron and how much?
My blood tests say my blood count is low and indicates low iron levels. What kind of iron and how much do you take? I had the DS on Sept. 2007 and have a 100 cm channel. My general practice Dr. wants me to take ..."iron sulfate or iron gluconate, approximately 300-350 mg twice daily." This seems like a lot to me. My surgeons office, Dr John Rabkin, wants $100.00 to answer my question about it.
Sulfate iron is less likely to be absorbed. Did you post on the DS board also? Heme iron and carbonyl appear to work better for the majority. How much you needs depends on how you absorb it? How low are your levels? If too low many of us have had to have iron infusions to get levels up.

I also have an low iron count/levels. My doctor told me to take "Nature Made Iron 65 mg Equivalent to 325 mg Ferrous Sulfate" (I take two tablets) also my doctor told me to take a chewable vitamin C 500 mg (1 chewable) with the two iron tables (vitamin C helps absorb iron into your system). My iron count/levels is slowly going back up and at times my iron goes up and down a little bit and levels out.
