Going to Doctor - Questions to Ask - What to request Since Gained most weight back
I am a WLS grad. from 2005. In these years I have honestly gained most of my weight back. I am the first to say that I did not follow the "plan" and I was not mature enough to realize the lifelong aspects. Now, I'm not saying this for sympathy or even scarcastic and mean spirited comments. The purpose of this posting is - I have not gone to my WLS doctor in years. My doctor allows you to be faxed a RX of your lab work, you go get your blood drawn and then at the time of your appt., your results can be discussed. The labwork was a complete list of various blood tests.
I had the lab work done and I was wondering what questions I should ask the doctor. Meaning, are their certain tests I should have done to see if my pouch was damaged. Does anyone have any helpful comments of what I should request. I now understand that knowlege is power and this doctor was kind of "brief" from years gone past so I don't expect him to say much unless I come in requesting ABC.
Best of luck, Sunshine3215
Thank you JESUS for letting me survive this surgery, you have blessed me beyond belief.
Nothing tastes as GOOD and being the size you want to be feels, it might be a size 6 for some, a size 12 for others but its a blessing to be healthy. Please don't focus on the tag inside your clothes, focus on being healthy and the best weight for YOUR size where YOU LOOK YOUR BEST. Everyone will not be a size "6". Get to the size where you look your best in pictures and you are happy not what "society" says is the "size for "YOU". Love Yourself, be happy each day...life is too short to be unhappy about things you can't change or control. Love Ya FAMILY...Sunshine3215
Glad you're not totally giving up. I had my pouched tested a couples of year ago to find that it is in tact.
I had my surgery in 2004 and I start gaining too. The body is an amazing tool. Even though my pouch is in tact, my intestines have learned to help the pouch hold more if I choose to force more in it.
I suggest you have your pouch tested and then star****er loading before you eat. Water loading can help you actually feel when your pouch is full. The key is not your pouch which worked wonders for us in the honeymoon stage. Now you must fight head hunger to get back down and you can do it. I've lost and regained... lost and regained. I'm back to losing again, but it's a battle.
You mentally have to leave sugar and white carbs alone with willpower now and not the pouch. Good luck and don't give up.
Make an appointment with your surgeon and ask for a EDG to see what your pouch and stoma looks like. You want to know if there are any mechanical problems with your surgery......if not, then you still have your tool and can lose weight by following the RNY guidelines.
Wish you well.
