Protein powder?
Hi,
I need to get back to the basics 7 years post-op. I never seemed to be able to find a protein powder that didn't taste like it was made of chalk and old sweat socks. Would someone be able to suggest a brand, or flavor? I will be relying heavily on smoothies and other protein drinks during the reset.
Cheers!
John
Hi John,
Everyone has their own favorites or what works for them but for me I really enjoy the Nectar whey proteins .. I use water and I will sometimes add a partial banana and strawberries or some fruit and a handful of spinach .. I actually dislike spinach but since it has some great health benefits (and someone convinced me to try it) I added it and found that I can't taste it at all .. I also add sometimes either a crystal light pack to it or will forget the water and crystal light totally and use a bottle of Lipton diet white raspberry tea for my liquid .. I then add sometimes enough ice to make it slushy .. Again everyone's tastes are different .. One other one I like is the already made Isopure protein drinks .. the fruity ones .. they come in a glass bottle .. I haven't been on the boards for awhile but am coming up on my 10 years post RNY and was wondering what you meant by "reset" .. Are you just going to do protein drinks only for a few days? Whichever protein drink you go for I wish you the best ..

I agree everyone have different preferences for taste, texture, etc. I tend to always reach for Unjury, and I order it online... 2 containers every month. My fave is Chocolate Splendor and I even throw in an extra teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa (plus a packet of Truvia) for more chocolate flavor. Good luck! Sue
