Protein powder?

Hi,

I need to get back to the basics 7 years post-op. I never seemed to be able to find a protein powder that didn't taste like it was made of chalk and old sweat socks. Would someone be able to suggest a brand, or flavor? I will be relying heavily on smoothies and other protein drinks during the reset.

Cheers!

John

Hi John,

Everyone has their own favorites or what works for them but for me I really enjoy the Nectar whey proteins .. I use water and I will sometimes add a partial banana and strawberries or some fruit and a handful of spinach .. I actually dislike spinach but since it has some great health benefits (and someone convinced me to try it) I added it and found that I can't taste it at all .. I also add sometimes either a crystal light pack to it or will forget the water and crystal light totally and use a bottle of Lipton diet white raspberry tea for my liquid .. I then add sometimes enough ice to make it slushy .. Again everyone's tastes are different .. One other one I like is the already made Isopure protein drinks .. the fruity ones .. they come in a glass bottle .. I haven't been on the boards for awhile but am coming up on my 10 years post RNY and was wondering what you meant by "reset" .. Are you just going to do protein drinks only for a few days?  Whichever protein drink you go for I wish you the best ..

Hi Rhonda,

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to try both Nectar and Unjury and compare :) Hopefully one will meet my needs. As far as "reset", I was referring to the five day pouch reset someone recommended to me ;)

Cheers!

I agree everyone have different preferences for taste, texture, etc. I tend to always reach for Unjury, and I order it online... 2 containers every month. My fave is Chocolate Splendor and I even throw in an extra teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa (plus a packet of Truvia) for more chocolate flavor.  Good luck!  Sue

For me, Unjury is the best! I order it twice a month. I really like the vanilla flavor and I use it in Almond Milk. I usually toss in some strawberries and bananas and it's tastes great to me.  Best of luck

I to am 7 years out and have gained about 20 pounds back and need to get back on track. I like the Isopure, it dessolves easy in water and really good as hot chocolate.

I received my Unjury vanilla protein powder on Monday, and tried it yesterday... it's delicious! By far the best I've had, so far :)

I use BSN Lean Dessert. I have tried samples of everything and that's my favorite. Go to some place like vitalady.com or Nashua Nutrition. They have sample packs. I ordered $50 in samples once!

Thanks for the recommendation... I'll give it a look :)
