I am currently 5.5 years out and I am in need of some help. I still am about 40 pounds away from my goal weight and have stopped losing. I have gained ten pounds. I know this is from the way I am eating. After being this far out I am hungery again. I have alot of questions. How much is okay to eat this far out? How many calories? I track on my food on My fitness pal. I work out 3 days a week. Can I absorb gel caps at this point? I really could use some advise and I would like to stay accountable

For losing, I found 800 calories per day with 50% of calories from protein (100g) to be ideal.  I also did weight training 2x a week and cardio (Couch to 5K) 3x a week.

Once you are at goal: you can eat as much as you like as long as you don't gain weight.  I started at 1200 calories per day and kept losing so I ultimately leveled off at 1900.  It's trial and error, really.  Everyone is different.

I've been losing regain myself. Try the rules of the pouch. They've helped me a lot. The water loading really helps combat hunger, if you do it the way the rules say. I eat 800-1300 cals per day, and I've lost 40 of the 80lb regain so far. http://www.amylhwilliams.com/pouchrulesfordummies.html

I NEED to hear stories like yours!!!  I was so thinking I was in the clear having not regained weight 6 years post-op. In the last year, I've put on around 50. Partly due to an antidepressant. But now I am having a horrible time taking it off and am looking for advice, stories of success, inspiration from others.  I battle hunger all day. I know the rules. I'm working at following the rules. But sometimes I say "screw it" when I don't see results as fast as I'd like. I tell myself it can't be done. So what  I need is to see that it CAN BE DONE.

I'm 11 yrs out and my doc said to hit 1200 calories by one year out and stay there. I've done that pretty much - adjusting my intake up or down depending on my day. Mountain biking day I do more, sitting at my desk I do less. I've found that 1200 calories per day is about average for me. Gel caps usually work 5 yrs out - that's why my doc recommended Advil in gel form -better for the stomach for us post ops and it's absorbed. I still do 50 gms of carbs per day or less, 86 ounces of water and 50+ gms of protein daily. It's worked for me all this time. Find what works for you - calories per day, carbs, water, exercise and use that as your guideline.
