18 months post surgery: not feeling great

Hi there. I am 18 months post GB Roux Y. I have had incredible success with the surgery and have maintained my weight loss for the last 6 months (approx 135 lbs). In the last 18 months I have also started a new, demanding job and started a wonderful relationship with an incredible guy. All those good things being said I now find myself exhausted, anxiety ridden and just in a general state of blah. I take my vitamins and my blood work is normal. I do live in the northeast and this could be seasonal depression (since I haven't seen the sun in god knows how long). I am just wondering from you all if you experienced something like this??? Could I be eating too many carbs which is affecting my blood sugar (I do have a problem with that if I go too long with out eating). Could the anxiety be related to my food or could it be something else. I would love to hear from you all. I almost feel like I have an 18 month post WLS hangover?

I will be 18 months out on the 7th,  I have found that If I do not get my protein in for several days I start feeling blah.  It doesn't happen all at once but usually after two or three days.  I track all my food and I'm glad I do because going back over the records shows a pattern when I am not careful with the protein.

Congratulations on your successes!!!  Are you still eating enough protein each day??  That would be my first thought.  Second, this was a horrible winter for most of us and nearly everyone is low or deficient in vitamin D.  Most primary care doctors don't test it unless asked.  Either way, try taking a 2,000 iu D3 supplement every day.  It can't hurt you unless you took massive doses over 5,000 iu per day, so it's a quick, worthwhile way to check.  In about a week, your brain fog should start to clear and your muscle exhaustion should begin to ease up.

Hope that's all it is, but do try to find a way to 'decompress' from your stress each day.  Maybe join a yoga class or even just take a 15 minute walk.  You have to take a little time to rewind and let go.

Best wishes to you on your continued success!!
