Hey y'all!
I haven't been here in so long, I had forgotten my password. I am a little more than 6 years out from gastric bypass. I lost a couple hundred pounds and felt OK about gaining about 15 back because I looked like a scarecrow. But I didn't mean to gain something like 50 pounds, and even though I'm afraid to step on the scales, that's about what I did. I put on about 5 pounds every 6 months or so, and I probably should stop that. I'd like to lose around 35 pounds. When I first had surgery, I had to eat as often as possible to consume enough to survive. Of course, I don't need to do that anymore. My question is ... is it really better to keep eating 6-to-8 times a day, just a little at a time, or would it be best to eat 3 good meals a day, and not snack anymore? I am a grazer -- still can't hold enough at meals to overeat, but at the end of the day I've eaten way too much. So which would be best? It's good to see so many of y'all doing so well.
Howdy Wanda..We're doing..maybe not perfectly but it's a process. Alot of us are gainers and have some to lose..I'm okay with where I am for now..I'm up about 7 pounds from my goal (which also made me feel like a deflated balloon!)
Yeah, I do eat about 6-8 times a day and it's little more than a snack or half a meal. Alot of times I'll start my lunch and stop, but then start back up again..I can eat half a lunch and feel okay with that.
Best thing is to see where you are with your intake and then plan and pre-package what you intend to eat and keep the other stuff out of reach. I pack my lunch in the mornings for work. I screw up really bad when i have my kitchen available (staying home) so I don't know what's gonna happen when and if I retire! With money short, we aren't doing alot of stuff on the weekends either for exercise. But you do what you can..move more, watch what you eat, lower the white carbs, up the water..It will happen.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Wanda I too am back here for the input 9 years out. I did the 5 day pouch test last week and got myself down 5 pounds. Big thing for me was lack of protein, too many carbs and not enough water. I too graze especially at night. I have since added high protein snacks back into my diet versus total carbs and it has helped. Also the evening meal with increased protein tides me over much better. I've been coming back to the site and lurking especially when I feel like I want to snack. Good luck to you...

Thank you Dawn and Terri. I did pretty good yesterday (a whole day). I've got the calorie counter fat secret app on my phone and kindle and I think it will help a lot. It's the best food tracker I've found so far. I would love to get thin again by summer. I told my grandson I was going to show up at his baseball games with a bikini on and he acted a little scared. Love and good luck to y'all.
