Hello, I know this is a gross topic, but is there any one out there that is experiencing this??? I had my surgery way back in 2003, just lately I have been experiencing stomach pain, so we added nexium but I have been having daily morning diarrhea........could this be h-poli bacteria?? Any ways just started a new job and still in training....I think its time to see the doc.  Just wondering every ones thoughts.

There can be all kinds of reasons.  I would check with a GI specialist who works with people who have had WLS or contact your surgeon or a surgeon if possible.

As the other poster said, it can be any number of things..something that comes to mind for me is celiac disease. It's genetic and is a reaction to glutten in wheat. It's in my family so I'm hyper sensitive to the symptoms and watch for it all the time..that and allergies! I have a tree nut allergy and it generally causes hives and anaphelaxis (I quit breathing because my throat closes up) but I know some food allergies can cause cramping and diarrhea and on top of that, stress can make things WORSE..

I hope you find your answer soon.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your stomach. You may want to ask your doctor to check you for  C.Difficil. It causes diarrhea, gas, bloating, stinky stool, stomach cramps etc... It is a contagious bacteria.  Helibactor Pylori is also a bacteria that mainly causes stomach pain, burning and ulsers in the stomach. Each of the tests can be done by giving a stool test. Although, the other person may be right. You may have developed an allergy. Food allergy testing a blood tes.t
I work at Sonora Quest an arm of Quest Nichols. I am a phlebotomist.
The only other suggestion I have is to make sure they actually test you before making a diagnosis and start you on antibiotics. I have seen many people who had to go through a few round of meds because the doc didn't actually test for a bacteria.
BTW, is this the only problem you have? You are what 6 years out? How is everything else? Do you have any long term side effects from the surgery?
I hope you feel better soon.

I think you might be on to something with the alergies, because twice this month I have broke out with hives for no apparent reason.  I will bring this up to my physican.  I am 9 years out, had my surgery on May 23rd, 2003. I might have to up that vit c too, I take a multi for bariatric and add, a, d, calcium, mag.  B-12 shots............but, I ALWAYS forget to take my iron and vit c at night!!! Going to have to put a sticky note on my pillow!!! I am doing well, weight wise, but have to work at it, I walk every day even on the weekends.  Thats what I have done for the last 9 years, its something I like and can stick with.....started and stopped many other exercise programs......find the one you like, so you will do it :-)
