need advice on abdominal skin supporter!
Hi Folks,
I'm five years out tomorrow and it has been an amazing five years. I have gained back some (ok, a lot) and am working on it....back to my beloved protein shakes, etc....I do have a huge problem and I'm hoping that someone can help..I was left with a huge amount of abdominal hang, more than before the surgery. I buy my blouses at 32-34" length and still my belly hangs lower. Is there such a product out there that will help me lift it up a few inches to the point that it won't hang below my blouse or chafe the top of my leg? Someone once mentioned that they used a pregnancy support belt but I don't know anything about those. I appreciate any insight and surgery isn't an option until I lose the gained weight. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the world of women after pregnancy! But seriously, I can totally sympathize. I have had two c-sections and am obese and have a bit of an overhang myself - so much so it causes me to buy the next size up in clothing to accommodate which then leaves everything else baggy. Anyway, you can always go get girdle-type things - cheaper than specialty stomach or back braces and more comfortable. Spanx is great - they have like a mid-riff smoother, or regular tummy control full coverage underwear (you can find them in sizes up to 6x). If you are handy with a needle go by the fabric store and get some restrictive but stretchy fabric and make yourself a tube-like support that will fit low enough to keep the abdomen/extra skin up or at least semi-still.
The pregnancy support belts did not help me when I was pregnant so I wouldn't recommend them for anything. I felt mine was a waste of money.
To help with hot weather, I use Pambra bra liners not only for my bras but to use under my little overhang - it keeps it as dry as possible and keeps my skin from chafing. Really cuts down on perspiration build up. You also have to blow dry that area really well with cool air after taking a shower and make sure it's completely dry before getting dressed. This helps with any chafe, too.
Those could all be temporary solutions until you can get your new tummy. Good luck!
