Protein Drinks
This is definitely a graduate level topic. I've not had protein shakes for at least two years as I get well over 100g of protein per day from diet alone.
Anyway, I found this:
...a study that was published in the British Journal of Nutrition in July 2011, because it investigates the question regarding whole-food protein vs. protein drinks. In short, two groups of teens were studied. The first group consumed a protein-rich, whole-food breakfast, and the second group consumed a protein-rich beverage. Both groups were given an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet four hours later, and, although both groups reported the same levels of satiety after breakfast, the beverage group consumed 33 percent more calories at lunch than the group who consumed a solid-food breakfast.

i was wondering, has anyone tried to just avoid whole foods? you know how an alcoholic avoids booze to stay on track, and a drug addict...well you get the idea. i just sorta wish i never had to go near real food. is there anyone out there that has tried to avoid food and just consume supplements and protien shakes and bars etc.
It might work; but I am in the opposite camp.
Fish Oil capsules are no substitute for eating actual fish! Food is infinitely complex and I don't think we humans have the know how to distill the oil out and have it be as good.
I think, people unable to control their eating really should get ongoing counseling.

I found that I had to return to what I was doing soon after surgery and that I had gotten a little lax. I have re-introduced shakes to my daily routine and the energy and weight loss is AWESOME. Check this out -- http://blessedhands.myvi.net . I started with one shake per day and it reminded me of how I ate right after surgery. I didnt want to feel like I couldnt eat whenever I wanted -- but I also didnt want to gain. If you want to lose -- I moved to the Transformation Kit and I am excited at the weight loss. The best part is my Personal Trainer has done a lot of research and my Nutritionist supported it.
Best Wishes!
