Sorry for the delay in writing this post.  I painted on my all day on Saturday and Sunday was busy too.

It was Friday 4/27 and it was the last day on the 5 day pouch test.  I weight in at 167 lbs on Saturday morning.  That is 13 lbs lost for the week and as I said earlier some of that was fluid loss from swelling. The big difference is I can tell my pouch is much smaller because Saturday and Sunday I could not eat as much as I was use to. .  I didn't want carbs either nice. I went down a belt notch.

So all in all it was a great week.

Glad to hear that the pouch test went so well for you!

I am approaching my 3 year surgiversary and need to drop 10 lbs. to be where I am most comfortable. I am headed back to the gym but the pouch test may be another toolin my arsenal!

Thank you for sharing your experience.  Your success has encouraged me to try the 5 day pouch test again.  I have tried it a couple of times in the past but I never got through the first couple of days.  I think I may have been too rigid with the plan, trying to get those extra pounds off fast...
I noticed you mentioned the ham and cheese soup. I am going to try that this time.   Which of the other recipes did you like that helped you get through the five days?  I am up about 20 lbs from my goal weight and having trouble with carb binging recently and hoping this will help.

Try the 5 day Pouch test not trying to lose weight and I think you will enjoy it better and then you will be surprised.   The best soup in my book is the pumpkin and sausage soup.  All the recipes are good.   One of the biggest thing to remember is when you get hunger have a protein shake.  I found some good protein shakes at Costo's and I think there is a coupon this month.

Good luck

Thank you again.  I am on day two today.  I am going to make the pumpkin and sausage soup today.  I am trying to keep in mind that the main thing is to break this carb cycle I have been on.  I already feel alot better today and I think I might actually succeed this time.  I'll keep you posted.

I finished the 5 day Pouch test today.  About to turn in for the night and I actually made it through the whole 5 days this time.  I'm not weighing myself right now, just going by how clothes fit so I'm not sure how much weight I lost, but clothes are looser than before and I am feeling much better.  I'm still feeling a bit of a carb-pull but hoping that the longer I stay off the sugary treats, the easier it will get.  I want to thank you for posting as it was your post that reminded me about the 5 day pouch test and got me to try it again.

The pumpkins sausage soup is the bomb! I make it even when I'm not on the pouch test. In fact I think I have some in the freezer. Guess I should thaw it out.

Char10,

That is wonderful.  Congrats for finishing.  I think you should weight first thing tomorrow morning just to surprise yourself.  And you can still make some of the recipes you ate during the 5 day pouch test to have anytime.  It will keep you going in the right direction.  I weight in yesterday at 166.5 lbs so I am maintaining the weight I lost during the 5 day pouch test.  I am positive you can do it.  When I start getting a carb attack I get some olives they are about 10 ca each I think they are pretty good.

Well good luck and you can do the 5 day pouch anytime and as many times as you want.  Oh also if you do weight in please let us know how you did.

Again Congrats.......
