I'm 20 months out and I cannot seem to lose weight. I only lost 90 lbs total and got down to 170 from 260. After 4-6 months of the surgery, I stopped losing.

Now I am really  trying to make this work and 3 weeks of high lean protein, water, veggies, salad, and cardio (40 min on elyptical) is not making a difference. I eat small meals and often. I also do little carbs in 1-2 100 cal packs a day. I am eating roughly 1000 calories a day. In the past, I've eaten 600-800 cals and lost drastic weight (8 years ago).

My b12 was low but I take pills for that...not sure if it helps.

Is there something else wrong here that I am missing???

Seems like you're saying you've stalled or that you haven't lost any weight at all in this time..Stalls happen and when they happen you need to change up your activities..like instead of cardio, do some muscle building..try increasing your calories..stay low carb and high in the water department but increase from 1000 calories to like 1300...and see if that helps.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Thank you. I tried for 3 weeks with no change in weight. My dr's office said you cant lose after 18 months of being out of surgery. I dont believe that so I am going to see him next month.

Do you know if b12 shots help?

B12 shots will work to bring your B12 levels up..B12 makes you feel better and more active..for a while I was taking 2500 a day and bouncing off the walls! I'm down to taking 500 a day or so and my levels are still quite high..maybe that's why I can't sit still.

It is possible to lose weight after 18 months..it's just slower. And not as easy..Not that losing weight after weight loss surgery is easy but it is somewhat easy compared to struggling before. And when you've gained weight, it doesn't come back on in 3 weeks and not a couple of pounds a day..it's a long time to gain it and a long time to lose it..

There is no secret to losing weight even after surgery (or even before-it's just different)..it's calories in and calories out..For me, it's all about carb addiction because if I go back to eating bread carbs..I will lose control and have gain..just like before surgery. Except before surgery or actually because of surgery, you have a time where you go through that white carb DETOX..just like drug addicts but without benefit of medication.

It is almost impossible for me to lose weight now.  I'm about 8 yrs, post op and doesn't seem to matter what I do I lost 10 lbs about a month ago and have been doing well with sticking to it and still cant lose.  thought it was alot easier to lose before the surgery, except for the original first 18 months .  the more time passes the harder it gets.
