Abdominal Cramping lasting an hour

Hey gang,

Last night after dinner my abdomen started cramping all the way across.  It hurt so bad I was sweating.  At first thought I ate to much at dinner but I have never experienced this kind of pain before.  For the last couple of months I have been experiencing short lived cramping when after eating I would drink something.   They are pain full but nothing like last night.  I could not stand completely up.  When I felt my abdomen it was real tight.  Has anybody experienced this before.

hernia... That was me .... eat food... wait a few minutes to 10-15 min... be in pain ... exactly as you describe.... Then the pain would go away... and come back after I ate...

And BTW - I had a few cat-scans ... and they did not show any abnormalities - but based on mysymptoms my doc did lap surgery (2 times) and I had hernia and twisted guts.

CTSCAN CAN BE NEGATIVE and your inside may be twisted and you may be in real danger...
As long as pain goes away - you probably do not have a complete blockage.  But - call the doc.... In a mean time - when I woudl end up in pain - I would try to drink warm liquids... also also had prescription  for pills..

HYOSCYAMINE  - the drug for cramps. That helps in 5-10 min. 

I've had the same thing and was just diagnosed with gallstones. Getting my gallbladder taken out in May.

I can only say to you PLEASE get it checked! I had open Roux-en-y in 1999. I have been having similar problems along with some other symptoms for months. Finally after many test and much agony they discovered that the mesh ring placed around my stoma at surgery had badly eroded and at this point had pushed its way into my intestine causing internal bleeding and all of my other problems. It was a truly life threatening situation due to the damage caused by the ring and the severity of erosion. After a 6 hr surgery by a Dr. I know saved my life I am finally home and seeking legal counsel at this point. Do not ignore any issues you may have. Get anything checked out that seems odd to you.

Thanks for the post.  I went to see my Dr.and he did not seem to be concerned about it.  He said if was a hernia I would have pain at other than not just when I am eating.  I am not sure about that.  I still happens worst when I over eat but I still get a cramp feeling when I just am eating or drinking.

I will wait and see.
