Thank you, I also am battling a 28 lb wt gain since 2003. I had  major  complications in 2006 and 2007 however, I'm good to go now, It's just frusterating that the weight came on. I am in need of some support and some accoutability. I would appriciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I just wanted to add that I am in the same boat as you are and am also doing something about it!

My surgery was in 2002 (280lbs down to 135lbs).  I've maintained the weight until about 3 years ago when the scale started creeping up slowly but surely.  I've now managed to regain 35lbs of my lost weight.

Today is Day One of regaining control and getting those pounds off!

My goals:
1.  Lose 35-40lbs in 5lbs incriments
2.  Get my BMI back under 23

I'll achieve these goals in part by:
1.  Exercise 30-60min a day, 5 days per week minimum
2.  Decrease calorie intake to 1100 initially and gradually build to a maintainable 1600-1800 when goal weight is closer.
3.  Eat/drink a minimum of 100g of protein per day.
4.  Limit bad carbs and alcohol.
5.  Each more green, leafy veggies
6.  Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day.
7.  Keep a food diary to track food/water intake and weight loss
8.  Do NOT drink with meals (a very bad habit that I need to break immediately).

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on, but these items are high on the list.

You have listed some very specific, measureable goals, which will definitely lead to success.  What are your favorite protein foods?

Thanks!

As for my favorite protein foods, I love fish and can eat it every day if let to my own devices.
Chicken also because it is really versatile.  I make several chicken breasts at once and chop some for salads or add to a light veggie stir fry.

Breakfast proteins are where I usually fall down, so I fall back on using shakes or cottage cheese for the most part.  The only form of egg I'll eat is a hard boiled egg, otherwise ick!  I may try some fresh fruit smoothies with protein powder thrown in (unflavored) once my supplies arrive in the mail.  If anyone has suggestions for some high protein breakfasts, I'm all ears!!!

My favorite high protein breakfast is 6oz Fage 0% Greek yogurt (18g protein) plus 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Cereal (6.5g protein) with some truvia, and either blueberries or banana slices.

So it is good to see that we are all working on our problem.  If any of you have a smart phone download the app my fitness pal, it is a free app and it is a daily log of your food, water exercise and you can track your weight loss etc.. I started it today and I am actually really into it. I cant wait until tomorrow to enter my info again.

Thanks for the tip Kari!
I grabbed the MyNetDiary app for my iphone.  I like the bar code scanner that is has.  There's a free version and the 'pro' version for $3.99.
