No, you're not alone. I am battling the same thing.  I honestly believe that my overeating and now drinking is because deep down I'm very unhappy.  A lot of things have happened to me in my life and even though I've been to counseling, I still have a lot of sadness.

If you want, I can e-mail you to help support you to get over this.

I was "powerless" over food, alcohol and a lot of other substances/ behaviors before my surgery. Nothing has changed since, but I am attending a new 12 Step group! lol I love www.therecoverygroup.org it has OA meetings every three hours and OA WLS meetings twice a week. Needless to say AA is a great place to start working on an alcohol problem. The earlier the better!

Hi Jan,

I'm in California, the southern part.

I tried AA.  For some reason, I couldn't relate.  I will try the link you sent me.  Sounds pretty awesome.  I like the fact that they have meetings every three hours. (With my work schedule, that is awesome).

Keep in touch Jan.

Maybe we can help each other out.

Hi Jan,

I guess I don't know "how" to use a chat room. I logged on to the link you sent me, and I got the "robot", and then I typed in a sentence, but I couldn't see anyone else talking.

do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

thanks Jan~~!

Mae (Mary Anne)

My sister had by-pass 4 years ago and is now an alcoholic. This was featured on Oprah a few years back. A lot has to do with the way you now digest food. Think the alcohol is absorbed faster or something. Plus most obese people have addictive personalities as well.
