Thank you Obesity Help for reminding me it was my NINE year anniversary today since my gastric bypass!

It has been an amazing road I've traveled.  The weight loss, a baby, iron infusions, tummy tuck and boobies (ohhhh yeah)......yet NINE years later I feel amazing and better than EVER!  While I initially lost over 170 pounds from my highest weight I did gain around 30 back (I got off track and I knew it).  I'm back on track and have lost 14 since January.  I know  I will forever struggle with food (it is an addiction) and the surgery was a tool.  I thank God for Dr. Titus Duncan and could never thank him enough for giving me a life to look forward to.

Do I  have any regrets?  YES.... just one - not pursuing the surgery sooner!!!  For those of you considering the surgery or are a few weeks to a few years out - - just know that it is so worth it and the weight can stay off but it will take work, determination and committment.

I had lost 110 after my surgery and also put on 30, I am back on track and have lost 20 of the 30, so am now considering the tummy tuck and inner thighs.

Congraduations.  I will be seven years in March.  We went to the same practice.  Larry Hobson did my surgery.  I have had the plastic surgery, but no iron or baby:)

Hang in there with the regain.  I have gained about 16 pounds since lowest weight.  I have finally gotten back on track.

Happy anniversary! I'm 6 days post-op and you're an inspiration. It's good to see others with long term success.

Happy anniversary to both the 9 and 7 year out post ops!

what I wonder: could you tell us a bit about how your life looks like so far out? What do you typically eat on a day? What do you do for exercise? Which are your golden rules to long term succes?

Do you look at calories, carbs, protein?

Just curious :-)

Elizabeth that is AWESOME!
I hope to be like you when i grow up & you are so right about many things & I can totally relate - Food is an addiction (that i personally struggle with every day), after all this time, my regret is not having my original procedure sooner (now, its that & having regained so much of what i lost) and NOTHING tastes as good a being thin feels.

Thank you for your post as it comes just days before my 2nd procedure & Im feeling nervous & all WHAT IF - but your post is a good reminder to me of what & why Im doing this.
While i love to eat - i want to be that skinny girl even more.

It has been 6 year and I to have gained about 30 pounds. I'm now working on losing and it is hard to keep the calories low and protein high.  Writing everything down is very hard for me but I can do it.  Good Luck to you  Viva
