HELP I have Failed Miserably

Help me please!!!!  I had a gastric bypass in 2003.  Since then I have failed miserably.  I had lost 156 pounds but have put much of it back on.  I found out by mistake that I do not necesarily dump with sugar.  Since then I have gone back to my addiction to COKE.  Even though my pouch must still be small since I still can't eat much, I continue to gain weight.  I guess this is due to the Coke.  After the holidays I am going to start in again.  IS it possible to lose weight again?  It never was before.  How would you suggest I do it?  All suggestions would be appreciated.  I really sdo not like being this big again.  Thank you all and my God bless all our efforts.

First - don't wait until after the holidays.  Start now.  You lost 156 lbs.  You did something right.  Start back like you just had surgery.  Protein first.  Stop eating when you are full.  Limit your starchy carbs (white bread, white rice, white pasta, white potatoes) and sugar.  Exercise.

You did it once  you can do it again.  You still have a tool that works.

I signed on today because I too am scared to death. I've gained back 20 pounds. While I may even feel a little better at this weight, I know I am on the slippery slope.
I guess it started last April, when I stopped going to the gym because of some neurological problems. The stress of carrying all that weight, diabetes, etc. have left their marks and not all can be resolved, but that's beside the point. I simply couldn't afford the gym any more; then I couldn't afford food...then the trouble started.
Entenmann's had donuts at two boxes for 6.00. This was a nightly habit for a few weeks in the summer. I thought I was getting away with something because the weight gain didn't show up at first. Yeah, I was/am depressed. Nope, meds haven't helped. Wah!
the worst part is that I can't seem to gather the will to change back to the path.

I agree with you, I hope.  I cannot eat rice, pasta or bread so I do limit my starchy carbs.  I am thinking of going on a protein only diet for awhile.  I have moved so I do not have a doc who will treat me here.  Bummer.  I have tried to get a dietician but they won't pick me up either.

Hey Ya'll!!!! This was the perfect post for me to read...because YOU described ME!
October, 2003.......
I dont dump on sugar, I drink Diet Sunkist all the time, graze all the time, dont eat meals like I should and still when I eat a good meal, I cannot eat a lot. My pouch is still there and working.
I used to stop drinking WATER 30 minutes before I ate and some times I couldnt drink any water for an HOUR after I ate.......Stopped the gym, DH had a stroke and doesnt work anymore, so anxiety and depression kicked in with all the responsibilities, found out I have had numerous lacunar strokes (deep small vessels, instead of big ones), quit smoking for 6 months, gained weight, started smoking again, eat, sit on my *ss....you name it, I have done it ALL wrong! I am eating chocolate as we type....
It ALL is about to change!!
Maybe we should all become email buddies instead of on the forum and keep EACH OTHER motivated!!

Hi,
I would like nothing better than to have you as an email buddy.  I definitely need help and support.  BTW, my mothers maiden name was Lambert.  It seems like God brought you to me.  My email at home ( at work now) is [email protected].  Except for the strokes and the smoking we are similar.  I have a bulging disc which greatly affects my gait and ability to exercise.  Working on that now.  My meds have stopped working as well for depression so I am thinking of switching.  I am a computer junkie with a bad back so my *ss gets a lot of sit time also.  I even got a dog to take for walks and she doesn't like to walk, she likes to sit on her *ss.  That's my Girl!  I need to
get back to working my plan.  I will start drinking prorein shakes again since they did seem to help.  I think I WILL start before the holidays although over eating is not the problem.  It is food choices and the inability to eat much meat.  It seems to stick in my stoma and comes right back up.  Maybe I should be scoped again.  I moved to Florida which is 800 miles from my Doctor so I need to find another one down here.
You email has already given me determination.  Let's go girl!  Smiles,  Sally

Good Evening..You were talking about when you eat meat it sticks to your stoma. I wonder how big your bite is. Is it rather small? How long do you chew on it? sometimes you have to really chew and chew. It also may be which meet that you eat. Like one of my favorites meat is any kind of fish. One of the things from the dietician told me to not give up. It may be ap  problem currently but dont give up completely. Wait a few weeks and then try again.

hi thx for your help.  I don't think it is as much how much I eat per bbite or how long I chew as it is the types of foods.  I cannot eat pasta, bread or rice or I get into trouble. Lately I cannot eat a very large quanity of anything.  I am eating less than 3 ounces per meal.
