Well lets start with I went for my consultation today and everything I need to do seems like it will be pretty easy to get done except I dont have a Primary Care physician who can write my Letter of Necessity.I only have my OBGYN.And Im not sure  if her letter will be accepted.I know it sounds weird that i dont have a pcp but I when I moved to GA a few years a ago I used a diffrent doctor every year I could never find one that I wanted to stay with also I am a person that will usually only go to the doctor if Im sick ( I know not good)...So anyone with any advice ill take it. I need to get all my Pre-op list done by mid January and this is the only thing I see on the list that may be a little issue.

i am not an insurance expert. I believe, based on discussions with my Dr's office and another office I was considering, that the letter of necesity can come from your gyn. as long as that person has treated you long enough. So I would ask you gyn for the letter and submit it. But you should find a pcp because you will need presurgery testing and depending on your insurance, (and your wls Dr)  other testing, which you may need referrals for (ex: cardiologist for stress test, gastroenterologist for endoscopy etc).  (This stage feels like forever, but it will go fast- use this time to learn as much as you can about the surgery you want and yourself. Emotionally this will be a big change). Good luck.

I have Cigna insurance and I was told the letter of necessity had to come from an MD, but the supervised diet could come from a nutritionist, weigh****chers etc as long as its documented each month and signed by same place and DO NOT miss a month.
