Celiac Disease Post-op-repost from the RNY board

Oh my! I am so happy to see these boards still going strong! It's been probably 2 years since i last posted on here.
Here's my problem: I'll be 4 years out on Tuesday & I've gained back 35 lbs. This frustrates me and I can't seem to lose any despite trying to control my portions and be as active as possible. I was diagnosed (finally) with Celiac Disease in late February and totally gluten free since March 1st. I initially lost 7 of the 22 that I had regained at that time, and now I've put on 20 more and my symptoms are returning despite strict adherence to the GF diet. It doesn't make sense to me.

Has anyone else been diagnosed Celiac post op and had similar or any problems? It just feels like 1 step forward 2 steps back the entire last 4 years. I'm not happy where I am and my docs don't seem to be able to help me except to suggest a scope (not again if I can help it) and possible revision (I don't think I need it)

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks!
LIFE IS GOOD!!! Good luck to everyone! EVERY WOW moment is a success!

I don't think I have that issue. But I need to keep my diet very low carbs to be able to maintain and not gain. If I increase carbs  - I star gaining like crazy.
My body needs proteins, fat and some limited carbs from high fiber fruits and veggies.
Just because something is GF - it does not mean it is healthy.
On to p of Gluten allergies - you may have develop some other food allergies and you may try to get tested on that.   Inflammation and food allergies may prevent yo form loosing weight and keeping it off.

Our family has celiac disease AND tree nut allergies..it plain sucks! But I was lucky and didn't get the celiac or at least the shock of surgery and losing weight didn't bring it on..In any case, I have to stay away from all the tree nuts and I'm always watchful of the possibility that I will become gluten sensitive..there are SO  many things that have gluten that you (unless you have celiac) wouldn't even know had gluten in them!

There are a number of resources for Celiac patients..you might do a google search on the problem and develop some contacts in that area, keeping in mind that even the items made with rice or other gluten free things might cause problems with carb numbers.

I do know that a strict diet of just meat (protein sources) and vegetative carbs (fruits and veggies) helps in both the WLS diet and the Celiac diet..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
