rny and menopause

Gastric Bypass in 2006 and kept weight off very well until this year.  Hit menopause and seemed to have lost my resriction.  Went back to doctor but was only allowed to see nutritionist.  No help whatsoever.  I am gaining at the rate of 5-7 lbs a month since I started the hormones I cannot seem to live with out.  Had a steroid shot today for upper respritroy infection.  I expect 20lbs for that.  I want to eat all the time and I feel really hungry in my belly again.  There does not seem to be any support groups around except those for surgery support. Anyone have advice, What can I do?

MMM..I had my bypass in July of 2006..I went off of my birthcontrol in Dec of 2010 and never looked back..menopause didn't do that to me. No hormone levels at all, as evidenced by the fact that the lining of my vagina is so atrophied that sex is painful unless I have hormone suppositories..

I would think surgery support is what you need. I don't think there's a link between menopause and the gain you're talking about..I'm still at goal..as a matter of fact, I did actually get up to 130 during the spring of this year (my dad died..super depressed) but I'm back down to 127 most days.

Steroid shots, however..I have NO experience with so that.

I am also in menapouse. I am on hormones bu my doc put me on bioidentical hormones.  I am getting estrogen, progesteron and Testesterone. I think the last one may have a great impact on my energy level, sex drive, my muscles, etc. 
If you are on syntetic or not bio-identical hormones (promarin is not horse not human) then you may be getting the side effects,

Hello Hala,

Very interested in what you said about the bioidentical hormones.  Can you tell me what the drug name is for what your taking?  I to am in the mist of menepause.  I am having very bad headaches and none of the doctors can figure out why. 

Any info would be appreciated.

 I get Rx from doc for bioidentical estrogen poatch, pills for bioidentical progesterone and then testesterone - as subliglual troche or capsules.  The doc can be best to advise.
