Kidney Stones

Hi,  Last year at this time I found out I had kidney stones.  Half Dollar size so they tell me.  They had to do a lipotrispy 3 times to blast them so they can come out.  Well They ARE BACK.  Same size and the same place, 2 in my right  kidney and one in my left kidney with many smaller ones.  I have had the first lipotrispy a couple weeks ago and the other has not been scheduled yet.

I am told that calcium asiatate (sp) stones will come back often.  They say once you get them you will get them often.  The hospital will not even let you walk in the front door without paying your out of pocket UP FRONT.  My ded is 2500.  and out of pocket is 5000 dollars.  So if I dont get them all blasted before the end of the year I have to come up with 5k UP FRONT to get the rest blasted.  the PAIN is so intense morphine does not even work to lessen the pain from them.

Does anyone else get these?  Is it cause in part from the GBS?  I know there is nothing you can do to prevent them from coming back again and again.  When you double over and land on the floor from the intense pain at somewhere other than home is not good. lol..   I would rather give birth 10 days in a row then go through this over and over.

Any advice?  Yes I drink lots of water.

First off..I have heard that kidney stones are extremely painful! Just how much water do you drink and how much of that is things other than water..

They actually told you there is nothing you can do to avoid them? Wow..Then what do they say causes them?
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I drink a min of 60 oz of water and a can or two of diet pepsi everyday.  yes everyone I talk to says there is nothing that I can do to prevent them.   I am 10 years post op.   Very healthy except the stones.  Pain is not the word for it.  PAIN. I would rather give birth than go through this pain.  Pain killers do nothing to ease the pain.  Morphine, Vicodin, Percocet does not even touch the pain so I take nothing.  I have a very high tollerance for pain but...........  Even after they blast the stones that CANNOT come out the pieces are like jagged glass and rips through the uritha (sp).   Sorry I cant spell.  lol..

I am 2 yrs post RNY surgery, today as a matter of fact.  I am battling kidney stones.  Mine were dx'd to be Oxalate stones the calcium kind.  I need to try and control them with diet and water.

1st I need to take Calcium CITRATE, no other kind, I need to ELIMINATE chocolate, soy milk, nuts and spinach.  I was doing choc protein powder and bars, snacking on nuts etc.  It was like throwing gasoline on a fire.

They must have dx'd your type of stone????

I've had bladder cancer and kidney stones, kidney stones are way worse!  The pain is just terrible.  I too am so tired of maxing my deductable with surgical costs.

I know a few people that I've met that said with the dietary changes they stopped getting the stones.  So as much as it sucks to have to change my diet yet again.  I'm going to try because I dont' want to end up back in the ER.

Let me know what they told you to do.  Good luck, sorry about the stones!
