weight gain after 6 years out need help
I have a couple of suggestions. See what it is that you are eating by journaling everything you put in your mouth on something like dailyplate or fitday..and see where you stand, what you're actually eating. It can be a real eye opener..check the list of things..are you eating too much bread or starchy carbs? Not enough protein? Falling on your face with snacks due to lack of planning?
Then change something. Dont try and change the whole world..just one thing..cut out the bread/pasta/rice and see how that makes you feel and how it makes the journaling totals change..Move some more. No need to join a marathon group..just park further from the doors at the store or instead of sitting at your desk for lunch or going to a restaurant, get your walking shoes on, grab a buddy (or your mp3 player) and walk..just walk..not fast, not jogging, not sprinting..just walk..even if it's inside the building..just move.
Plan out your meals for the day..and pack a lunch or keep snacks that you can have with you..check the accountability threads for suggestions on quick snacks that can be made ahead and kept..cheese sticks and deli lunch meat..hard boiled eggs..fruit and cream cheese. You wont' be tempted by teh chips in the vending machine so much and if you eat good stuff every couple of hours, you won't get a chance to actually get hungry and crave the vending machine crap..

Have you tried Weigh****chers lately? (I'm sure you tried it pre-surgery, but have you tried it lately?) I've been on it for a couple of months and it's working, slowly, but it's working. I couldn't stay on it before my RNY because I was starving, but it's a good fit for me now. It's just sensible eating, no gimmicks. I would recommend it. Good luck to us all. :)
You can have carbs on WW, but the new points system is calculated by fat, carbs, protein and fiber. You'll find that the carbs result in higher points, so you're not going to get too many. Most fruits are freebies, and you might want to avoid that. (I've been eating my weight in grapes every day.) A lot of vegetables are also free, so you could substitute those. I signed up on-line for 3 months. It was about $50. I think I'll stop paying soon though because I've learned about all I need to know. It's painfully SLOW weight loss, but it's working and I'm getting plenty of good food to eat, so I'm trying to stick with it.
What has worked for me, is going back to basics. No drinking 30 minutes after meals, keep your calories around 1000, proteins around 90-100 grams, carbs below 100, fats below 30 and walk at least 30 minutes a day. I am walking twice a day for 1 hour each time. I have been doing this since May 2011 and I have lost 55 lbs. of a 70 lb. regain in six months. I post my eats and cardio each morning on the Back on track group here at OH. Which is a group that has had regain and are working to get it back off. Would love to see you there. Also, if you are not taking your vitamins you need to get on track with that too and don't forget to get in at least 64 ounces of fluids daily.
Go back to the basics. Pull out your paperwork you received when you had WLS. I am 2.5 years out and I still track all my food and measure.....I still with the healthy guidelines and exercise 4 days a week currently. Get your head right first. You know you can do it so gather your support group and just do it. You did before and can again.... Calories in Calories out....Don't neglect your body of carbs but stay away from processed food.
