I have a question that you may know or know of someone who may have the same issue as me. I was just diagnosed with osteo arthritis of the hips. They are wanting to prescribe a medication that is given to patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohns diseas as it is easy on the tummy and intestines. Been trying to run it by my gastric doctor but have gotten no reply. The Rx name is  sulfasalazine. Do you or ny of the WLS graduates know about this or have heard of it. I got two cortisone injections directly to the hips the other day and feel like a new person. However, it will wear off in 6-8 weeks and I am hoping to find out by then about the medication. I of course have googled it, but want to know if anyone has ever tried it. Thanks! Denae

I have fibromyalgia & osteoarthritis. Both hips & hand (fingers) affected at this point. Not sure why your Dr. wants you on the med he ordered, but some meds work on different things other than what they're mainly made for. Have not been on that med. I'm on Gapapentin & Diclofenac. I see a rhuemtologist & remind him of my GBS. These meds cause weight gain of which I'm not a happy camper, but they do help the pain. I take Tramadol, flexeril & hydrocodien for that. I've put on 30 lbs, & working hard to get it off.
Hope you find the answer you want & hope your pain is relieved soon. Gentle (((HUGS)))
Take care,
Kathy

Thank you so much for your reply. I am sorry to har you are experienceing a lot of what I am. It is painful and no fun at all. I too have experienced a 20 pound regain as I have not been able to exercise. I also have taken Flexeril adn tramadol (take them at least weekly), to help with pain. I am waiting to hear back frm my Gastric Doc. I hope this type of medication can be of use to me and help.I have the cortisone injections already- they were ridiculously painful and only last 6 weeks. So, I want to find something that will pick up where the cortisone leaves off. Thank you again for your response nad support! Wishing the best as well...take care and gentle hugs as well :)
