Newbie Question for the Vets...

Hi Guys,

I just have a quick question about excess skin..
I thought I would ask the Graduates as I imagine you are all maintaining or very close. I am considered a Heavyweight with 200+ pounds to lose.
I have been told many times that I am young and my skin will bounce back, but I find it hard to believe that my Apron will just disappear into thin air *although I will keep my fingers crossed.* I also have quite large thighs. I do currently go to the gym and use the ellipticals and treadmills but I get thigh burn now, and I only imagine its going to get worse once I start to lose some weight. I actually am most worried about the excess skin after surgery vs the surgery itself.
I am reasonably confident with my fluffy body, and being fat the majority of my life I can't Imagine a thinner version of myself. I have lost weight in the past but nothing crazy significant where I had hanging skin.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks soo much
Cheryl

The first time I ever lost a great deal of weight I was about 21 and I lost close to 100lbs and I hated my skin.  I especially hated my stomach.  I still felt fat with the excess skin.  In hindsight it wasn't even that bad.
Now I have lost and regained weight so many times and had a bunch of pregnancies and the skin did not bounce back.  At this point I have lost over 130lbs.  I did have my apron removed about 8 years ago, after my first WLS.  Insurance paid for it so that was a blessing.  I would love to get a lower body lift and a breast lift, along with my arms and face while I am dreaming but I probably will never be able to afford all that so I just accept what I have.  It is still better then being MO.
I don't know how old you are but if you are really bothered by excess skin you can see what, if anything, insurance can do and then a lot of people go out of country for plastic surgery.  There are some great doctors out there and the cost is very reasonable.  If you can afford a new car you can afford reconstructive surgery.  Maybe you can start putting money away now for it.

I lost arouond 192 lbs at my very lowest....I had to have some plastics. expensive but worth every penny!! I will tell you not to slack on exercise as it will help not only with some skin but your overall glow, your confidence, and your ability to maintain.

Be happy.

Hi!
What is spinning? Is it like Zumba? I have to do low impact excercise, so maybe will try this one too.
Take care,
Kathy

Surgical removal of hanging skin is about the only thing that will yeld results.

I have spent a fortune on creams and treatment and the only items that showed any results is Copper Peptides and Retinol..I seen an improvement with those, mostly on my face and neck areas..but I was a lightweight losing only 70lbs..still, I could use a tummy tuck..would like a neck lift too..smile.
I would have fared better to have saved all that money I spent on creams, etc and put toward the surgeries..UH
