Sad to Report...Gained Most Back
Just as a word of advice to others....
Please don't make my mistakes, I had my surgery in 2005 and have gained back 35 pounds. Little by little...bit by bit.....also I cheated a lot from the start and that was also a mistake.
Please don't make my mistakes, get counseling, join a support group and fight hard not to gain too much weight back.
I'm going to a weight control doctor soon and I'm starting again with the protein drinks, and meal plan. I've gone so far, I don't know if I'm going to be able to lose the weight.
Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

As the other poster said, it's a tool..Like a pair of plyers, you can use them to pound in nails but it's a lot harder...I had my RNY July 2006..and I have had no bounce back and no regain but it's because I am obnoxious about treating my food addiction like a real addiction. Most aren't that obsessive!
You have to know that whatever tool you're given, if you use it wrong you aren't doing yourself or the project much good at all. It's time to turn that sail boat around and get it back on course..start NOW by following the rules..dense protein first, then GOOD carbs like fruits and veggies..leave the white carbs like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and sugar out ...completely OUT..and you'll probably turn those few (yeah, 35 isn't all that bad! I've seen people who have gained back ALL of it..yup, 100+) pounds around.
If you aren't able to wrap your head around doing that..do something else..go to a food journaling site (like fitday or dailyplate) and journal all you put in your mouth for a week..not changing anything but being honest with yourself. Then look at your totals. How much protein, how many carbs, how much fat..then look at the types of carbs. A friend of mine thought she was doing just fine until she did that and found that she was doing about 60 grams of protein a day and a whopping 250 grams of carbs..yes, carbs, especially white carbs are evil..
And then,,,, MOVE..you don't have to take up marathon running..just walk. Walk further into the store or coffee shop, park further from the entrance of places..go somewhere like the farmers market on the weekends..stroll by the lake or in the park but just move more.
We're here too..we do our accountability each day, every day..we applaud and cheer everyone..any helpful hints are appreciated..each of us has our own journey and our own potholes..But we all keep going. Never give up because YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Thanks for your responses. It was quite inspiring and helpful. I am researching and will follow your advice. I am also going to research the size of my pouch and see if I have stretched it to the point of no return. I am also going to research if I can/should/after counseling consider getting the surgery again. I don't know what form of surgery but I have to look into the options. I admire your policy and strict eating habits. I think newbies should learn from you what TO DO and from ME...what not to do....
THANKS
THANKS
YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!!!! I to have gained back 30 pounds back, and started a light weight at 254, but lost 110 so Im still ahead of the game. Alot of people have regained, I always tell people I had stomach surgery not brain surgery. I can eat and drink anything, the only thing that makes me a little sick is to much sweets, but I can down a bottle of wine no problem. I joined weigh****chers 2 weeks ago and am working on getting myself under control. Good Luck, Deb
Do not think of yourself as a failure ever. This is a permanent lifetime journey and you just hit a little roadblock is all. I hear this from people we work with in our conference series all the time.

Thanks for your honesty. I too had surgery in 2008. I have regained 40lbs and it makes me so sad. However, I know that I can bounce back and so can you. It requires us to put ourselves first like we used to when we first had surgery. We are important enough to make the investment in ourselves. 35 lbs. is not bad. You can recover from this. Be encouraged!
I had WLS in March of 08 and have gained a lot of weight back. More than half of what I have lost. It is absolutely devestating.
