HCG? Unusual Weight gain diagnoses?

Taminator- I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner to your post. A slice of melba toast or grissini bread stick shouldn't cause a stall, although I rarely have any b/c I'm so carb-addicted I'm afraid it would be a trigger for me. Over the counter meds is another story, including Benedeyl, which has been known to stall with some people. When I have trouble sleeping, which is rarely now, I take Nite Lite, which is a product I get through Omnitrition, the company where I get my drops. It not only works, providing deep, restful sleep, but works in support of the drops.

I have now lost 39 lbs, since April 26th. I would like to lose another 25 to get back tobmy original goal weight achieved in 2004.

Also, if you read Dr. Simeons Pound and Inches manuscript on the subject of stalls, he provides a really good explanation, which I won't go into here. If you don't have a copy of it, I will be happy to send it to you. You just need to give me your email addres, or send me an email to betsy at crittendens dot com.

I don't know if this is an issue for you or if you were ever tested for this in the past but you mentioned you are only 4ft 10in - have you ever been tested for pituitary issues?  Growth hormone deficiency in children causes short stature but in adults causes many things including weight issues - with problems with increased fat mass and decreased muscle mass plus many other things.  I was diagnosed with this as an adult and was on growth hormone injections for years until recently when for some reason my levels normalized.

I dont' know if this would affect your weight loss or not but it might be worth looking into in general.  I know I did feel better after starting the injections - I had more energy and just had a better outlook on life.  Just the fact that you are going into early menopause could be sign of this since hypopituitary affects your hormone levels - FSH, LH as well as your growth hormone and prolactin.  There are a few others that are rarer that didnt' affect me.

Just thought I would share this with you.  I also went into early menopause - My periods started getting abnormal at 40 and stopped at 46.

I had considered that once when in my mid-thirties they thought I was going into premature menopause but I think they ruled it out since I normalized and they didn't really follow through on it. But yes, I do wonder if that could be it. Thanks for the reminder!!!! I've been stuck on even the HCG after that initial weight loss without a pound since. It's just worrying me to death that no matter the effort I feel like I'm back on this gain roller coaster. Gotta do some research into the pituitary issue!!!

go see a good Endocrinologist, they can do the proper testing - mostly all blood testing but they usually also do an MRI of your brain - pituitary since sometimes a pituitary tumor can be the cause - almost always benign (something like 90%)  I have a tiny one - 4 mm. They just treat them with hormones and please stay away from the HCG, it just really messes up your hormones

Taminator,
Just wondering how you're doing/did on the hcg. I'm on maintenance after my second round of drops, and have lost 46 lbs. I'm starting a 3rd round to lose the final 15-20, which will get me back to my goal weight. I'm so looking forward to getting back to 125!
