Rebecca:
Just curious..have your doctors determined what the piece of metal that is imbedded in your stomach is from? Was it from the machine they use to staple and sever the pouch/reminent stomach? I hope they remove it and you start feeling better soon!!

My digestive health doctor stated that he did not know why the metal piece was left in there, and he stated that it may have been left on purpose. The surgeon that did my surgery is in another state. I tried getting my medical records, but was told that they deleted them. They did not even keep them for over 6 years.

Hi Rebecca-

my name is Christy. I had gastric bypass in 2005 and have had to endure 6 major abdominal surgeries since due to one horrific complication after another. I'm now 10 years out since my surgery but now I have other issues. It took about 6 months of me complaining about chronic abdominal pain, burning under my rib cage and it radiates through my back, before I was sent to my GI Doctor. He immediately was concerned because I had lost so much weight because I couldn't keep any foods down and I was losing 10 lbs every month. I had an endoscopy done and he found major imflammed anastomoses ulcers which were causing a stricture hence why I couldn't hold food down. I've now had a nasogastric tube and receive nutrition through it daily. It's been 4 months and the protonix, and carafate haven't helped. I am now being referred for a GI specialist who will determine if I need to reverse my gastric bypass. I've had 4 endoscopies and they've dilated the site 3 times with no change. I wanted to post my story so others in our community can get help immediately if they start having these health side effects.

i wish you all the best.
