What blood work is needed after 3 years?

Hello,

I am a 3 year post-RNY graduate.  I do not remember what all labs need to be done.

I had my surgery done in Germany (we're Army), and all my medical records were lost in transit.  I now see a Family Practioner that doesn't know anything about gastric bypass patients.  I have been struggling with severe anemia for almost 2 years now.  I really want to get a list of specifics to be tested for at my next visit.  It has been a year since my last labs and I really want a FULL work-up.  I do get a B-12 every month, but now I am having significant memory loss and confusion.  I'm also dealing with hair loss AGAIN.  I'm only 47.  I really think it is a deficiency of some kind.  I used to have a list of things to be tested but I have since misplaced it in our move.  Can anyone provide me with a list of things to be tested?

Thanks!

I can tell you that my work sheet for the lab calls it 'Malabsorptive PNL'  which is
CPB, CBC, Lipid, Ferr, folate, iron/tibc/tsh, b1, b6, b12, prealbumin...

from what you are saying, I think you should try to get the blood work done a couple weeks before your visit- that way the doctor can look at the results with you.

It might be a good time to take a hard look at what vitamins you are taking.

I hope you feel better soon!

Yes, the malabsortion panel. When I had mine done the lab tech had to look it up as they never heard of it. And do look at your vits & let Dr. know what you've been taking or not taking. This is a lifelong love affair & you can't stop taking them.
Take care,
Kathy
