I am just over a yr out and down over 120 lbs
I am now having extreme abdominal pain and am being treated for an ulcer
has anyone else experienced this
is it similar to a hernia regarding pain
could it be a hernia instead
I am really concerned the meds Nexium seem to take the pain away off and on but i am swallowing maalox like crazy I am having trouble at work and have had to leave due to sitting and standing and the physical nature of my job
and i have to wear a lot of equipment and a heavy belt on my abdomen
anyone that has had this any advice would be appreciated

hm... if the nexium and Maalox are helping - it may be ulcers.
The meds are less invasive that scope..so when I star hurting - I try the meds and if they are helping - most likely it is ulcer or some sort or irritation.
I use omeprozole - 2 times a day - morning and before bed and Rx Carafate - 4 times a day.
The caraffate needs t be taken at least 1 hr away from antacids.  Do that for 3-4 months.  Even when the symptoms go away after a couple of weeks.
And follow ulcer friendly diet.  (google it).

Hi,

I had the same thing, the pain was directly below my breasts in the middle, and it hurts even to the touch, sitting for long periods made it worse and it seemed to me like it was really really bad gas, I too took tons of malox and gaviscon.  After a couple of weeks went to see my surgeon, had a scope and turns out to be a ulcer at the anastomosis, I am on carafate every six hours, it helps.  I would call your dr. if it is a ulcer you want to be sure you treat it correctly.

Good Luck
