wow....I havent been here for awhile....hello to all!

Back in Feb 2008, I was at goal weight and feeling great, then I got sick.  Not knowing "what" was wrong, I left my busy job as a restaurant manager and took some much time needed off ...assuming stress was my issue.  Whelp, In Apr I found out I was a full three months pregnant, with my period, PP and a failing cervix.......long story short, I was hopsitalized until 32 weeks......here I am at 168 lbs......havent gained anything but am not losing either!!  I'm so frustrated.  I have 25 lbs to go and I am back at pre-baby weight but I'm stuck.  I started a liquid diet.....have been so bad on taking my vitamins..so I am doing that (I'm majorly D def...b12 def and anemic) which I am guessing isnt helping with weight loss because your body needs these vitamins to process weight properly.  I need to kick start again...any suggestions?  I dont work like I used to ....esp with a young one.......taking care of kids isnt exercise and I have to drag myself out of bed in the morning..I feel yucky.  Anyone else experiencing (experienced) this and got your way through it???

First off, you need to work on the vitamin deficiency first and foremost..that can cause permanent damage!

To lose weight you have to use more calories than you're taking in. How many calories are you taking in? How much of that is protein? How much is carbs? Once you know where you are, you can plot your course to where you want to be.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Dawn

The vitamins are the main culprit.  i don't drink juice, eat sweets or have carbs........eating " badly" was never an issue for me.  However will say when I was in the hospital, they watched everything I ate and a balanced diet did require carbs.......

I am taking in about 800 to 1100 caloires a day by my calculations.....everything I put in my mouth is protien...I eat egg white....shrimp...all kinds of fish....love sashimi......I make and drink lots of bone broths......drink kefir and raw dairy...and the typical chix, pork and beef.  I try to keep my calories at bay  because I a not as active as used to be....thoughts?

I'm with Dawn that first and foremost you must address the deficiencies....so you'll have energy to exercise and so your body will function properly.

It also sounds like you are not eating a balanced diet.  If you are trying to lose, you should be eating a minimum of 1,200 calories per day--and more if you work out hard or are nursing.  Otherwise, your poor body is holding on for dear life to anything it gets.  You need protein, complex carbs, veggies and fruit.

You must get into a regular exercise routine concentrating on building a fair amount of muscle.  The body will need more calories to support dense muscle tissue and it will burn more even when you are at rest.

Also, re-evaluate your ideal weight....is it just a number you like, or is it realistic?  A really low number is of no value if you have to live in a gym and starve to achieve it.

I wish you the best!

Kim,

Sorry it took me so long to respond.....the past two days I went back to calorie counting..protien counting and I am feeling so much better...annnnnd lost a couple of pounds...you ladies are so right.  I am very fortunate...my presurgery weight was 313 lbs....I am now 165......and I am 5 years out....my surgeon is so very happy and I should be grateful and yes....maybe my pre-baby weight isnt ideal for me now since my body has once again changed.  I need the gym...to tone up...I think that is whats bothering me the most.  I "lost" my tone when I was put on bedrest for my entire pregnancy...then life got crazy busy....I need to spend more time on "me" and then I think I'd feel better.  Thanks for listening and reminding me to get back to the basics.....sometimes we forget.  Will keep you posted and now I have to update my ticker :)
