Started my 5 day pouch test and struggling
So, I started a 5 day pouch test, mostly to detox myself from carbs. I cannot believe the 'head hunger' I am experiencing. I didn't have this during the post op weight loss phase. I think I felt so miserable, the thought of eating was just disgusting. Well, know I can really empathize with all those posts about head hunger.
I'm trying everything I can do to stay with the plan, but am having a heck of a time. It's 3.45 here in the afternoon.... just had a protein shake. Will have some soup and another protein shake then to bed... should be around 900 cal. for the day....
Any words of wisdom??

Great Job getting back on track with the 5DPT! I did it last week and was very successful, the carb cravings has minimized (but I started my **** yesterday; so now it's really a "will power" thing not to grab a cracker or chocolate.

Try chewing some gum whenever you are feeling the "head hunger." It really helps me. Once you have detoxed you will feel a lot better. I can tell you that I had carbs for 2 days straight this weekend and I made sure I detoxed right away. It's amazing how quickly those cravings come back.
Good Luck and YOU CAN DO IT!!
Good Luck and YOU CAN DO IT!!
OMG! me too. We'll do it together. I was just about to post about starting my 5-day Pouch Reset. I've started because I'm having problems with lymphodemia and have 'gained' 20 pounds in the last 2 months - mostly swelling because it's way down in the morning and I look 5+ months preggo at night. Back to wearing my total body binder from post plastic surgery again to help a little with swelling and circulation. Have an appt w/ doc on friday but this is my new doc and he's not as familiar with post-op issues as some. (not much choice though - tricare)
Day 1 - liquid diet. This sux. Head Hunger driving me insane. Like others, I never had this the first time around. I am having the horrible craving to start knawing the flesh off my hands - seriously - not nails, but the skin - WTF! Working on my 2nd 60gm protein shake today (skim milk, unjury unflavored, CIB) - should have 5 total max today which would give me just over 300gm of protein for the day. Will also drink between 3-4 liters of water today (one down already). It's 1015am, been at work for 3.5 hours already. Hands are shaky from carb withdraw, I WANT BEEF! Or at least LF cottage cheese. Can't wait for day 3. Sitting at work there's nothing to do except think about how I'm NOT able to eat my string cheese snack .
I feel like a drug addict and that's really weird because I never had this kind of obsession/craving BEFORE or AFTER WLS.... now 3.5 years out I'm getting hit with it? No where to turn but here, you guys I'm sure can sympathize better than others on this. I'm freaking out about this gain, even if it's artifical and everyone else is just telling me "oh it's ok, you're still tiny, it's not like me" - that's only because they don't understand where I came from (pre-surgery) - they didn't know me THEN so they can't understand what a HUGE deal 20 freaking pounds are to me!
Sorry about the rant, thanks for listening. Linda, I'm here for you!!!!!!!!!!
