I know exactly what your talking about. The lowest I got down to was 229 and I am now back up to 280 ! I started last week cutting out sweets and other bad foods and have losted 6 lbs. It is scarey to think about getting back up to 370 lbs...I am here for you if you need support maybe we can lean on each other :)

I too am in the same boat  you are.  I am 7 yrs. out .  I lost 140 lbs. and have put back on about 35 and can't seem to stop gaining.  I went through menopause last yr and it does seem to make a difference in being able to lose.  I have been wanting to nibble constantly.  I'm trying to get a handle on things, but I'm having a very difficult time.

It is REALLY hard and scary too.  I wish I had some answers for everyone who struggles with this.  I guess all we can do is try to go day by day, and do the best we can each day.  It's so discouraging, though, and don't we always want to turn to our "best friend" - food - when things go badly?  It has helped me a little to come back to this site and start talking about it with others who "get it."

I am glad to read these posts & to realize I'm NOT the only one.  I had RNY 5 years ago and lost 100 pounds, I've probably regained around 15 lbs, which doesn't sound horrendous but I'm really out of control and fully capable of running that scale back up.  I really need to refocus, which has been very rough.  I'm back in the junk food, sugar trap and need to break out of this fast.  At this point I could really stand to lose 50 pounds.

I sent away to Unjury for protein powder and need to make a plan to use that and get back to the way I was eating just after my surgery.  I'm not exercising at all, not sleeping great and basically just need to get back on the horse!  I'm glad to see such wonderful support here

Thanks for the response, Diann.

It's very difficult now, and each year out it becomes more and more difficult.  I totally understand where you are as I have done the same.  I wish there were some easy answers, but then nothing about the whole process has ever been easy.

Your plan to get back on track sounds good.  I have found that having a little extra protein in my diet truly helps to keep hunger at bay.  I have been having a protein shake most mornings (25 grams), and it has been helping me.  I also have started exercising more regularly, and hope that will help get some weight off.  So far, it has not, but I typically gain weight when I re-start an exercise program.  At least the scale has not gone up.

Best wishes to you.  Keep in touch, and let us know how it's going.

Carlita:

I hear what everyone is saying but "back to basics" wouldnt help you if you've had a mechanical failure.  I know you've contacted me on the revision board.  Here is my suggestion. Do the back to basics and see if it helps at the same time, get a referral for a ct scan or an endscopy. If your pouch has stretched, nothing is going to help.  Its not the same. Im sorry.  I am 9 yrs out this August. I went from 305 (8/2002) to 175 and am currently at 246.  I am having my BOB on June 23rd.  I think you need to see whats going on mechanically inside of you.

Heather:  Thank you for the input.

Are there any "symptoms" connected with mechanical failure?  I don't have any symptoms of anything, and I suspect my pouch is simply stretched.  I still can't eat anywhere near the amount I could pre-op (at one sitting).  However, my pouch empties very quickly, and I often find myself hungry again in a short period of time.

My plan for this summer is to continue to up my exercise and follow a basic protein/veggie/low carb diet.  I can honestly say that I haven't been compliant with the type of regimen we are supposed to follow.  I want to see what will happen if I do the "plan" the way I'm really supposed to.  I'm also planning to see my doc for a checkup, and I believe it will include a GI and/or endoscopy.

I'm very interested to hear how your BOB will work.  Please keep me updated on this!  If my plan doesn't show some results, I may be considering the BOB also.
