How to Get Capsules Down..

  I am early post op RNY. I choose not to swallow the vitamin capsules at this point. Do I dump the capsules in protein shake, or dump them in anything to get them down?  I find that using the protein shake the vitamins capsule powder clumps up. I am afraid I am losing too much of the capsule on the sides of the container that did not dissolve right. I wanted to use dissolving/sublingual/ and chewable forms of vitamins for a while but some vitamins only come in capsule.

First of all you need to check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if the medicine will still work right once you take it out of the capsule. Some medicines are time released and depend on the capsule to dissolve slowly in our intestines to work the way they should.

We aren't suppose to take capsules as they don't usually disolve enough for us to get the medicine out of them. Emptying them out into something gives us the wrong absorbtion or dosage. Check with your doc or pharmacist. Get your capsules in another form. Chewable, pill or liquid. Make sure you can take it with your newly re-routed digestive system.
