I would like to see a list of complete protein food combinations for RNY post op meals. Can you help me put together a list with your best foods?

One of the foods I use a lot is Quinoa.  It is a grain but so full of protein. It keeps me going with no side effect.   Its easy to cook and you can eat it hot or cold.  It goes with everything!  Hummus is another good choice.

I have never tried either of those before... new adventures!  So do you cook the Quinoa with water and it is like Cream of Wheat? Do you put sweetener on it?

Quinoa is so easy.  Its like cooking rice with a 2:1 ratio. You can cook it plain or with anything you want in the water (or milk).  Add cooked quinoa to salads or use in place of lettuce with all your salad goodies.  You can't mess up the cooking of this very forgiving grain.  If you use to much water just simmer it down, it still tastes great.

Quinoa (ken-waah) is high in protein and fiber.  I can no longer eat rice of any kind so I replace anything that calls for rice with the quinoa.  I can't eat lettuce either so I use the quinoa for my salads.  It is so easy to cook, I use a 2:1 ratio like rice.  Eat it plain or mixed with veggies.  Makes a great meal that is very satisfying.

Get one of those little protein counter books at the book store. It will show you protein, fat, carb and caloric content of different foods. I can't give you a combination of protein food meals as they are all different. I ate protein only meals my first year+ as a post op and then started incorporating more veggies and a few fruits into my diet. Check what your doc wants you eating at what stage. I was on mostly dairy at first-cottage cheese, cheese sticks, yogurt, then progressed to meats and that's what made up most of my diet for a long time. Protein only or protein forward meals work best for us.
