Topamax for migraines and weightloss
"Dopamax" No thanks! I was prescribed this pre-op for migraines and not only did it cause me to GAIN over 30 lbs in less than a month but it caused my ears to fill with fluid and made my brain sluggish, tired and unable to function...
I honestly looked like some drooling insane person from an Insane Asylum. I would never touch that drug again with a 90 foot pole, ever. I know some people who have taken it also for depression and had horrible results with it (No weight loss either).
Some of the short and mid term memory loss it causes, or seizures CAN pbe permanent even after you stop it. My ear (eustachian tube) it STIL L messed up and clogs up all the time. (Which it has never done in 46 years...Only after being on Dopamax, er Topamax for a month)....
Just my experience...
For my migraines I take IMITREX injection or Fioricet. (Doesn't really "cure" it but handles me until I can get home and burrow under a cover for 2 days).

As for any drugs for weight loss....Well, we've been down that road before... (all previous WLS paitients)...I was on Phen/Phen, Jenny Craig, every diet known to man...It worked GREAT while I was on it....Gained it all back when I stopped.
Now I keep to basics, watch my carbs and get some kind of exercise in daily even if it is just walking at the YMCA for 20 minutes on a treadmill.
