Need Help
You have to make a conscious effort to follow your plan and stop sabotaging yourself. You must make your health a priority in your life. Everyday we make a decision of what we are going to put into our mouths. YOU are in total control. If you eat something you shouldn't, then you were in control of that situation. If you exercise daily, you are also in control of that decision. WLS is not a miracle cure (as so many people will argue....there is nothing easy about it). Maintaining weight lost is a full time job and is very difficult.........BUT IT CAN BE DONE.
I'm guessing that if you've only lost 50 lbs since June you may not be following your plan most of the time--is that true?
Some basics (copied from a response I sent to another person that needed support):
1) Eat at least 1,000 calories per day (more if you exercise strenuously) and 100 grams of protein minimum--the rest should be good fats and complex carbs. Eat 6 small meals a day--this set my metabolism on fire! The biggest mistake people make is continuing to try to live on 500 calories per day and then starvation sets in--this is guaranteed to shut down your metabolism. If you get hungry between meals, drink hot tea--works like a miracle for me.
2) EXERCISE!! And I mean vigorously 5x a week-you must mix cardio with weight training--you must develop muscles! The body needs more fuel to support muscle tissue so you will burn more of what you eat if you are supporting muscles.
3) Journal your food and exercise EVERYDAY. This is a must to determine you are getting enough nutrition. Drink your water every day.
4) Only weigh once a week. Same time, same scale.
5) Do not drink sodas and do not drink while eating or for 30 mins after eating.
6) Make yourself a priority. You DO have time to plan meals, you DO have time to exercise--if you make yourself a priority. If you don't take care of you, who will??
I know--tough love. But sometimes that kick in the hiney is what you need. Now, take responsibility for the choices you make everyday and make yourself a priority! I wish you the best.

Hey there! First of all, let me say good job, you did exactly what you should be doing by reaching out for support! I completely agree with the tips Kim gave you, and sometimes we all certainly need a swift kick to the rear, but we also need loving support and ecouragement of others on this journey. We all have our demons to fight, and unfortunately our surgeries do not fix our heads and the reasons we became obese are still there. I would suggest that in addition to getting strict with your routine, you schedule a visit with your surgeon, tell them about your struggles. They know you have them, or else they wouldnt have a job, right? If you are not going already, ask them for info on support groups in your area. if you have insurance or other mental health resources you could also look into a behavior modification therapist who specializes in compulsive overeating. Keep logging on and exploring this site, it is a wealth of information and support. Reach out when you need it and keep moving forward! Good luck and God Bless you in your journey.
