Starting again....please help
Look at what you've accomplished! You can definitely do this!
I'm not a fan of the 5DPT.....you know you have a pouch--and you should know it will work....what good is it going to do to know how many ounces it holds??? We all know after 2 years that the ole body figures out how to work around our surgeries! If you need to "detox" from carbs/sugar for a few days, just do a liquid diet for a few days to accompli****
I am also not a fan of protein supplements....you should get your protein from food-which will keep you feeling full longer so you wont be as tempted to graze.
Here's my recommendations for what they are worth:
1) Eat at least 1,200 calories per day (more if you exercise strenuously) and 100 grams of protein minimum--the rest should be good fats and complex carbs. Eat 6 small meals a day--this set my metabolism on fire! The biggest mistake people make when trying to lose again is that they try to go back to the starvation amounts from year 1--this is guaranteed to shut down your metabolism. If you get hungry between meals, drink hot tea--works like a miracle for me.
2) EXERCISE!! And I mean vigorously 5x a week-you must mix cardio with weight training--you must develop muscles! The body needs more fuel to support muscle tissue so you will burn more of what you eat if you are supporting muscles.
3) Journal your food and exercise EVERYDAY. This is a must to determine you are getting enough nutrition. Drink your water every day.
4) Only weigh once a week. Same time, same scale.
5) Do not drink sodas and do not drink while eating or for 30 mins after eating.
6) Make yourself a priority. You DO have time to plan meals, you DO have time to exercise--if you make yourself a priority. If you don't take care of you, who will??
I wish you the best--focus on how far you've come and the great success you've achieved....this is but a blip on the radar and you CAN fix it.

Really enjoyed reading your reply. I will be 3 years out in July and stopped losing at about 15-20 pounds from my goal of 150. I remained steady for about a year and a half, but when the holidays came this year, in spite of working out religiously, I was eating more junk (cookies, that type stuff) and more bread. My weight has gone up from 172-174 to between 178-180 and now I must admit I am starting to panic a little bit about how I can get this turned around and going back down in the right direction so I logged onto our wonderful supportive website and started reading. I feel better just reading the supportive things from others who share my journey of wls. Thanks a lot. - Cheryl
I'm in the same boat too. I had my RNY done Jan 2005 and have gained 50 back. Yikes I could just scream. After all that how could I? Well I did and I just started the 5dpt and on day 2 and have lost 3.5 pounds. It is a struggle and I must say I'd love to make love to a Reese Peanut butter cup right about now (isn't peanut butter protein?) but I won't. I also have gotten of my a** and started working out at Curves which is working well. I am so with all of you and just know your not alone and we can do it. We've done it before!!!!
Hugs to you and I too have weight to get off...but I like to eat and diets don't work. I practice Mindful Eating and go to my Bariatric Support group. Know what? Most of us have gained weight, it's normal. Thin people gain weight too. You will take it off and remember you are still a success.
Job loss and divorce...yep stressors and so what if you have put on a few pounds. It will come off when you are ready and it sounds like you are ready to take the bull by the horns now! So keep posting and find a fun workout and get some workout buddies at the gym.
I'm cheering for ya!! We are having a weight loss challenge here at work starting next week for 8 weeks with our Wellness Program. 10.00 to join and winning team gets the cash! Heck ya, that's incentive! LOL
Keep a sense of humor about your weight gain, really try not to stress about it. YOU are normal.
I like the EAS protein shakes, 110 calories, 17 gms of protein. I drink it on lots of ice and pretend it's my chocolate milk.

I haven't regained, but I haven't lost for a long time, either. Carbs are my downfall, as I suspect they are for just about everyone. The advice you have gotten here is good. My problem is grazing - I never eat much at one time, but I walk by the jelly beans in the candy dish and grab a few - a few times a day. Yeah, I know - they're on their way out! We all know what to do, it's just a matter of doing it. Good luck, there are a lot of people in the same boat as you. You're not alone!

It's amazing how those calories add up as your walking past the candy dish.
We all will win this war of obesity, it just takes time.
Not stressing about the small things is a plus...throwing the jelly beans out is a must!
Now me, I can not have chips in my house. They call to me all the time. It's my trigger food and I know it. Cookies too. Jelly beans wouldn't bother me.
I know I will never be alone with regain and getting it off. There are a lot of us out there.
