Starting again....please help
Had RNY surgery in March 2002 I was 347 at the time of surgery. Reached goal of 140 in August of 2003 and stayed there until Nov of 2010. Job loss and divorce sent me into a bad place and I woke up today at 184 and realized I have to start again. Tomorrow morning it is back to the gym and start the 5 day pouch test. Have to go get protein tonight do not even have any in the house. I know I can do this but need support and can not find any support groups in this area. Thank you all in advance for your help.
I feel your pain Tee, I am in the same boat. I actually have an appt tmw to enter into a medical weightloss management plan. I have gone through a rough couple of years myself and as a result have suffered some regain and I am spiraling out of control. I am not sure what to expect tomorrow but I am hoping I help with getting back on track so I can lose 65 pounds and reach goal.

Hey Tee,
I 'm sorry it took so long to get back to you but my appointment went very well. My doctor is going to order bloodwork and a series of test to make sure the pouch is working fine. In the mean time I am going to see the dietician and she is putting me on a six week protein fast to jump start my weight loss and get things back on track . I am also going to see the psychologist to discuss any other sabatoging behaviours. After all is said and done my pouch will be checked out to make sure the weight gain is purely due to my own sabotage....and not some other medical reason. I am soooo glad to be back under the Doctors care. I will go back to see her in six weeks at that time she will go over all of my test results and I should have lost about 30 pounds too. If all is well I will be back on track with my weight loss and my dietician will at that time reintroduce me to carbs...oh yeah my doc says I must exercise 5x a week for at least 30 minute....all in all I am excited...it feels like the first few weeks after surgery....and this is what I needed a nudge in the right direction....I will keep you posted as I progress.

Sounds like something I need to try. I have gain 20lbs. in the last 6 months. My surgeon put me on an appetite suppression. I have such a sweet tooth that maybe I should totally cut out sweets sugar or no sugar.
Wow, those bad habits come creeping back in! Ugh.
Please let me know how your progress is going. I am right there with you!

Let me offer you a word of encouragement. 44 lbs. is "doable" and you KNOW what to do.
Especially with getting to the gym....let exercise be a motivator for you. As you feel that bit of soreness, let it remind you of what your physical goals are and the importance of getting the whole picture back together again.
The 5dpt will remind you that you don't need a LOT of food to get along quite well. It will give you the sense of control that you had kept in place for so long.
And know what? I bet it feels good to get back on track!

Good Morning,
I wish you all the luck in the world . I am trying to lose 18 pounds of the 25 that I gained. No matter what I did I couldn't lose. Recently, I was about to go to Weigh****chers or to do something to get these 18 pounds off; so I signed up with MyFitnessPal.com (a free calorie tracker weight site) and started tracking everything I ate. I joined February 13, 2011. I have lose 4 pounds already. I wish I would have known that as long as you stay inside your daily calorie goals you will lose weight. Try it out.
If you join look me up and we can motivate each other. Good Luck again!

Hi I had my RNY Sept. 2008 and I too have regained I went from 264 down to 153 (goal was 150) I regained to 171. I have been able to loose 3 pounds by logging everything I eat on Daily Plate.com. Today I am starting the 5 day pouch test too. Keep us posted on how your test is going so we can share some support. Good Luck on your first day! You can and will do this 44 pounds is a goal you can reach especially if you remember to celebrate 1 pound at a time and don't look at all 44. ~ Kristi

i concur with lynn, you have caught it just in time and 44 is very possible to deal with. i'm 10 years out and like you my 248 pounds went quickly. but us old-timers don't have the pouch tool at 100% anymore. i would guess mine is 30% effective, so we have to use other tools such as OH food tracker and excercise. you can do it! those 44 will be gone in no time, hang in there
