am a local support group leader, our group has about 130-150 people bi weekly.  We are a assorted group surgery wise, band, RNY, DS everything. Anyway, I need some ideas for topics/speakers for our meetings.  We have had dieitians. docs, nutritionists, psychologists, trainers. plastic surgeons and next month is a chiropractor.  Please help me with any ideas that if you were in a support group, would spark your interest, be informative. helpful, fun, etc.
I truly appreicate ANY ideas!!
Thanks in advance!!

Have you ever thought about discussing what each of you eat?  I find that I get ideas from others.  I seem to eat the same thing all the time so hearing what others eat is interesting to me.

You could just open the floor up for the members to bring to the table what keeps them up at night about thier weighloss.  What websites they visit.

Hope this helps.

You could also have a personal shopper come and speak about properly buying clothes that fit...and styles that best camoflauge certain areas, and styles one can wear through the weight loss process.....many folks struggle with this.

Also maybe do a recipe exchange.....everyone could bring a WLS friendly dish and several copies of the recipe to share.

We recently had a rep from Bariatric Advantage, she brought samples, had some educational games and gave (really good!) prizes and offered discounts for orders. Loaded up on calcium chews. Fave support group ever. Jenny T
